ChariTrees is back for its 16th edition! This year, 100 beautifully lit Christmas trees will once again illuminate the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade from mid-November to December, transforming the waterfront into a beacon of hope, compassion, and unity. Every tree is a reminder that no one should have to face their darkest moments alone. Be part of something meaningful this Christmas by bringing hope and making a lasting impact for those who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts or have been affected by suicide. Contact us at giving@sos.org.sg to adopt a tree this festive season.

Last week, SOS was honoured to welcome 14 representatives from Pergas (Singapore Islamic Scholars & Religious Teachers Association) for a learning visit. During the session, we shared more about our 24-hour crisis helplines, specialist counselling services and support groups that provide emotional support for individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts and distress. The visit sparked meaningful conversations, with Pergas staff and volunteers engaging with our crisis support and counselling teams to better understand our work, exchange insights and explore how we can collectively strengthen support within our communities. Thank you Pergas for your continued commitment to promoting mental wellbeing and caring for those you serve. Engagements like these remind us that by learning from one another and working together across communities, we can build a more compassionate and supportive society for those who need it most.

Not every tough battle is physical. ⚽🧡 We sat down with Cardiff City footballer Perry Ng for an honest conversation about the highs and lows of professional football, why speaking up about mental wellbeing matters, and how a recent visit to SPD changed his perspective on disability inclusion. Wanting to turn words into action, Perry is lending his support to SparkAbility 2026, the charity walk by SPD and Samaritans of Singapore Limited (SOS) that brings people together to champion disability inclusion, mental wellness and a community where no one has to face life's challenges alone. Details 📍 The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay 📅 Saturday, 19 September 2026 Sign up today at www.sparkability.org.sg🧡 (Psst... 🤫 Perry might just join us at the Walk too!) 🎥 Training footage courtesy of Football Association of Singapore #SPDSingapore #SamaritansofSingapore #SparkAbility #MentalWellness #DisabilityInclusion #WalkForChange

For a year, my clients and participants could not tell what I was really seeing. Through 2025, I ran some of the biggest events of my career with vision in only one eye. The bleeding was inside my eyeball, so nothing showed on the outside. After surgery last December, my vision is clear again, and I am grateful every day. Something I learned during this episode: many people are carrying something no one can see. I only had a glimpse. For others, it is everyday life. It humbled me too. I coach and I design wellbeing programmes. I once helped train service staff to assist people with disabilities. And still, I found it hard to ask for help when I needed it myself. That is why I am joining SparkAbility 2026, a Walk for Change by SPD and Samaritans of Singapore Limited (SOS). On 19 September at Gardens by the Bay, to come a little closer to what people live with, both seen and unseen. If you would like to be part of it: 👣Walk. Sign up by end July and use STEPHT10 for 10 percent off, on top of early bird. 🫶🏻Give. Donate to my team’s fundraising page, tax deductible, full proceeds to SPD and SOS. ➡️ Links here: https://lnkd.in/gitU-CnN I have been quiet on LinkedIn for a long while. This felt worth returning for. This is the kind of understanding I hope to keep building, in life and in the people development work I do. Like I always say, we will get better. Thank you for walking through this with me.
