Congratulations to Nera Systems on bringing confidential AI to Google Cloud. 🎉🔐 The startup is tackling one of enterprise AI’s biggest challenges: putting sensitive data to work without exposing it to models. With Nera, regulated organizations can use Gemini to analyze confidential data while keeping it encrypted, even during processing, meeting compliance requirements, all without slowing down. This is a major step toward making AI useful for the data that matters most.
Today, Nera Systems and Google Cloud are announcing our partnership. Here's the problem this actually solves. The data that would benefit most from AI is almost always the data an organization is least able to use. Client financials sit behind confidentiality obligations. Patient and customer records sit behind HIPAA, GLBA, GDPR. Proprietary datasets sit behind contracts nobody wrote with AI in mind. So the highest-value work never gets approved, while staff quietly turn to consumer AI tools with data that should never leave the building. Nera solves this architecturally, not with a policy. Data is encrypted before it ever leaves a customer's control, using keys they hold. The model receives the question and the structure of the data, never the underlying values. We can't read it either. Running on Google Cloud, with their team actively engaged on go-to-market and joint enterprise work, Nera customers can put Gemini to work on data that was previously off limits, cash flow analysis on client financials, anomaly detection across sensitive operational records, risk analysis on data that could never touch a third-party model before.
