I spent 6 months testing AI SEO tactics for clients. One saw 2,300% AI traffic growth and now appears in 90+ AI overviews (vs zero before). Here's the exact 4-step framework we used: 1. Finding AI Opportunities: • Use Surfer AI Tracker/Ahrefs Brand Radar to see how often AI platforms mention your brand vs. your competitors • Plug in your brand and theirs, then filter for AI keywords they’re winning that you’re not • Those are the exact topics you need to target and steal 2. Content Strategy: •  Write directly and skip the fluff (AI hates filler content) •  Use conversational tone (how people actually speak vs keyword stuffing) •  Structure with clear H1/H2/H3 hierarchy •  Add TLDR summaries at the top of articles 3. Building Trust Signals: •  Claim and optimize Google Business, Yelp, LinkedIn profiles •  Get high-quality backlinks from relevant domains •  Include expert quotes and author bios with credentials •  Showcase certifications and awards prominently •  Add case studies with real data 4. Tracking Results: In GA4, go to Reports > Acquisition > Traffic Acquisition, add comparison filter for referral traffic, then use this regex: (.*gpt.*|.*chatgpt.*|.*openai.*|.*neeva.*|.*writesonic.*|.*nimble.*|.*outrider.*|.*perplexity.*|.*google.*bard.*|.*bard.*|.*edgeservices.*|.*gemini.*google.*) This shows exactly which AI platforms send you traffic.

SEO is shifting under our feet. For years, the playbook was simple: optimise for page 1 rankings, fight for clicks, measure traffic. But buyers don’t browse the same way anymore. They’re asking AI tools for direct answers, and getting them. Google’s Gemini, ChatGPT, Perplexity, even Bing. They’re not serving links, they’re serving summaries. Traditional SEO = earn visibility on results pages Answer-Engine Optimisation (AEO) = position your content so search engines (and AI tools) choose you as the answer Why? Because the “10 blue links” era is fading. How to adapt: 1. Answer questions directly – structure content in a Q&A style. 2. Think entities, not keywords – context and meaning matter more than exact matches. 3. Build authority signals – AI wants trusted sources: backlinks, reviews, named experts. 4. Mix depth with clarity – long-form guides + short, snappy explanations. We’re not abandoning SEO, it’s evolving. The winners will be those who optimise for both humans and machines. Curious: has your business started planning for AEO yet, or are you still doubling down on the old SEO model?

SEO for AI Mode: How to Win in Conversational Search Search is shifting from keywords to conversations. With AI-powered results and conversational search interfaces expanding, users now ask multi-layered questions instead of typing short queries. That changes how content ranks — and how it gets selected. The data: • Conversational queries are significantly longer, often 2–3x traditional keyword length • Informational SERPs with AI-generated summaries show measurable CTR compression • Pages with structured answers and clear entity signals are more frequently surfaced in AI responses Ranking is no longer about matching a keyword. It’s about being the most reliable answer in a dialogue. ⸻ What AI Mode Prioritizes AI-driven search systems favor: • Direct, concise answers at the top of pages • Structured formatting (lists, steps, definitions) • Clear entity associations and topical depth • Demonstrated expertise and consistency across content Thin, surface-level content is increasingly ignored. ⸻ How to Optimize for Conversational Search 1. Answer layered questions Instead of targeting one keyword, address primary + secondary intent within the same piece. 2. Add contextual depth Explain why, how, risks, benefits, and implications — not just definitions. 3. Strengthen topical clusters AI models favor domains that demonstrate breadth across a subject. 4. Improve entity clarity Use consistent terminology, structured headings, and schema to reinforce what your brand is associated with. ⸻ The Strategic Shift Traditional SEO optimized for rankings. AI Mode optimization focuses on: • Being selected • Being cited • Being trusted The brands that adapt will dominate conversational discovery.

If you’re leading SEO in 2026, here’s a practical playbook I’m seeing work: simple, repeatable, and measurable. 1. Measure total search visibility (not just rankings) Track where your brand appears across classic SERPs and AI answers. If you’re not measuring mentions, citations, and referenced pages, you’re flying blind. 2. Establish an AI visibility baseline Before optimizing, benchmark how often AI tools mention you vs competitors. You need a starting point to prove progress. 3. Study who AI already trusts Look at competitors that get cited consistently. Reverse-engineer: – Topics they own – How their answers are structured – Why AI prefers them 4. Research prompts, not just keywords People don’t “search” in AI, they ask. Map real questions users ask AI and identify: – Intent – Difficulty – Brands mentioned This replaces classic keyword research for many use cases. 5. Monitor brand sentiment inside AI answers AI doesn’t just mention brands, it frames them. Track how your brand is described: – Strengths highlighted – Weaknesses repeated – Narratives forming over time 6. Create content designed to be cited This is where most content fails. Winning formats: – Direct answers first – Clear definitions – Tables, FAQs, structured sections – Claims backed by data or examples If AI can’t extract the answer easily, it won’t reference you. 7. Track high-value prompts continuously Treat prompts like keywords with intent. Monitor when you gain or lose visibility so you can react early. 8. Audit your site for AI accessibility Check for: – Blocked AI crawlers – Weak internal linking – Missing or broken structured data – Pages AI can’t parse properly Technical SEO now directly impacts AI visibility. 9. Report SEO + AI together One dashboard. One story. Include: – AI mentions growth – Traditional rankings – Traffic impact – Competitive share – ROI If leadership only sees SEO or AI separately, you’ll underinvest in both: AI search isn’t replacing SEO. It’s raising the bar. The teams that win won’t chase tricks. They’ll build systems that make their expertise easy to understand, easy to trust, and easy to reuse. And this is where tooling matters. Platforms like Semrush make this transition practical: combining classic visibility metrics, competitive research, content structure insights, and technical audits into one workflow. Not to “game” AI, but to understand where you’re trusted, where you’re invisible, and what to fix first.

🚨 SEO is evolving: Are you ready for AI Mode? This is the one video you should watch this week by Michael King, Andrea Volpini and moderated by Garrett Sussman https://lnkd.in/emD8G5wq Key takeaways from the iPullRank x WordLift webinar: ➽ AI Mode is Probabilistic, Not Deterministic. Unlike traditional SEO where rankings are static, AI mode generates synthetic queries from a user’s query, retrieves relevant document passages, and processes them through multiple reasoning chains to synthesize responses. ➽ Query Fanout and Synthetic Queries. AI mode expands user queries into multiple related queries (fanouts) to find diverse information. Ranking high for synthetic queries influences inclusion in AI responses even if your main query ranking is low. ➽ Importance of Semantic Chunking and Data Structuring. Content should be structured in semantic chunks with clear headings, specific data points, and semantic triples (subject-predicate-object) for better AI comprehension. ➽ User Context and Hyperpersonalization. Google uses user embeddings from their ecosystem (Gmail, browsing history) to personalize responses. Future personalization might leverage adapters running locally to maintain privacy while scaling. ➽ Relevance Engineering and Content Strategy. Optimizing for AI mode requires: - Identifying synthetic queries for target topics. - Structuring content for semantic clarity. - Expanding topical clusters for broader coverage. - Using omni-media strategies (LinkedIn posts, PR, forums) to increase “candidate passages” eligible for AI outputs. ➽ Shift from Generative to Agentic AI. SEO is moving towards agentic AI, where AI agents interact with semantic data and structured knowledge graphs to deliver hyper-personalized results. Static pages may become less relevant in an agentic web. ➽ Actionable Steps for Content Optimization: 1. Identify synthetic queries related to your topics. 2. Optimize content in semantic chunks (150-400 tokens) with data-rich sentences. 3. Build and maintain a knowledge graph and structured data beyond schema.org to influence AI memory and reasoning. 👉 Question: What steps are you taking today to optimize for AI Mode tomorrow? #SEO #AI #RelevanceEngineering #QueryFanout #AgenticSEO

  • What if your SEO strategy could improve itself while you sleep? That’s the promise of AI in SEO. Here’s what it actually delivers. 1. Massive Data Processing at Scale AI tools can process millions of data points in milliseconds. This means faster identification of keyword trends, competitor moves, search behavior shifts, and content gaps, insights that would take days or weeks manually. 2. Content That Aligns With Search Intent AI helps generate and refine content that speaks directly to user needs 𝘢𝘯𝘥 algorithm expectations. From headline suggestions to semantic term inclusion, AI ensures relevance, improving rankings and engagement. 3. Automation of Technical SEO Tasks AI can identify and fix crawl errors, optimize site structure, update meta tags, and even manage schema markup. These improvements boost crawlability, indexing, and site health, without waiting on dev cycles. 4. Scalable Workflows for Agile Teams For in-house SEO teams or agencies managing multiple clients, AI-driven platforms offer the ability to scale output without sacrificing quality. Less time on manual processes means more time for strategic execution. 5. Personalized Content and Recommendations AI enables dynamic, personalized experiences; matching users with the right content or products. This not only improves user satisfaction but also drives better conversion metrics across the board. 6. Predictive SEO Capabilities Instead of reacting to ranking changes, AI gives forward-looking insights. Predictive analytics can help you pivot content strategies based on evolving SERPs, seasonality, or user behavior patterns. 7. Better Resource Allocation By automating repetitive or low-impact tasks (keyword clustering, outline generation, internal link suggestions), teams can focus energy on high-impact strategy, content depth, and creative direction. 8. Continuous Optimization Unlike manual efforts that happen periodically, AI SEO tools often run continuously (analyzing, adjusting, and suggesting improvements in real-time). This keeps your site aligned with algorithm changes without needing a full audit each time. 9. Enhanced Competitor Benchmarking AI can analyze competitors’ pages, keyword usage, backlink profiles, and content gaps in real-time. These insights make your own strategy sharper and more informed. 10 Faster Time to Publish From keyword research to draft generation and optimization, AI compresses timelines. What used to take days or weeks can now happen in hours → ideal for newsrooms, product launches, or reactive SEO campaigns. AI doesn’t replace SEO expertise, but it does 𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘺 it. For SEO professionals, it's about using AI to remove bottlenecks, act faster, and operate smarter in a landscape that's only getting more competitive.

If you’re still asking “Will AI replace SEOs?” … you’re asking the wrong question. The smarter question is: Where should AI win — and where should humans still lead? Here’s how I break it down: Where AI wins: • Generating quick first drafts (briefs, outlines, ideas) • Clustering keywords at scale • Rewriting meta descriptions, titles, and tags in bulk • Spotting on-page issues and content gaps • Creating semantically rich structures with schema and markup • Supporting GEO (generative engine optimization) — TL;DRs, FAQs, structure If it’s repetitive, pattern-driven, and data-heavy…AI can do it faster than you can blink. Where humans win: • Telling original stories from actual experience • Turning product positioning into a narrative • Deciding what’s worth writing about in the first place • Getting quoted in articles, podcasts, and press • Earning real backlinks through relationships, not automation • Bringing voice, POV, and brand to content The best SEO teams I know are using AI to move faster, not to replace themselves. They use it to clear the table, so they can focus on the things only a human can do: → Strategic calls → Creative output → Real authority-building Curious how others are balancing this: Where are you using AI in your SEO process right now, and where do you keep it hands-off? Drop your take👇

Zapier's entire SEO strategy was built on a simple formula: Create templates, connect databases, generate millions of pages, and capture long-tail search. But it wasn’t just Zapier. Companies like G2 used software comparisons at scale, Wise repeatedly built currency exchange tools, and Payscale generated salary data pages for every imaginable combination. But recent advancements in AI are shifting this proven tactic into something more powerful and accessible. Before large language models, this strategy required substantial engineering effort. Teams would produce a single page template, populate it through databases, and multiply variations endlessly. AI-driven language models are changing SEO entirely. Today, Version 2 of this strategy involves generating editorial-style content at scale, naturally written, contextually relevant, and varied in a sophisticated way. Real-world examples are already emerging: Twingate is analyzing data breaches at scale. OpenArt AI creates detailed image-generation tutorials. Yet, three critical challenges remain: 1. Large language models still have limited knowledge scope. 2. Contextual understanding often requires significant refinement. 3. Factual accuracy demands thorough verification. The companies succeeding today aren't simply relying on AI-generated content alone. They're combining large language models with external databases, carefully engineered prompts, and rigorous quality assurance processes. What once required massive engineering resources is quickly becoming accessible to any business willing to master this new approach.

Can AI clearly understand your website? Here are 6 ways to optimize your site for AI-driven search. 1) 𝐁𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐨𝐧. Your homepage should immediately answer: Who you serve What problem you solve What outcomes you create Not vague inspiration. Specific positioning. 2) 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐤𝐞𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞-𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. Think long-tail, conversational queries like: “Best keynote speaker for a financial services conference” Use these as headings and subheadings. AI mirrors how people actually ask. 3) 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐲. One strong H1. Logical H2s. Supporting H3s. AI reads structure before nuance. Organize your ideas so machines can follow them. 4) 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞. If you speak on leadership in technology, create multiple pieces around that theme. Not scattered posts. Consistent, reinforcing content builds authority signals. 5) 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬. If you serve different verticals or event types, make that explicit. Pages like: Keynote speaker for technology conferences Sales kickoff keynote speaker Specificity improves AI match quality. 6) 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞. Connect related blogs, keynote pages, case studies, and videos. Link leadership content to your leadership keynote page. Link sales content to your sales kickoff page. This creates a clear site map and topic clusters. When your content is connected, AI understands your expertise more completely. Here is the shift: Google ranks pages. AI synthesizes authority. If Chat or Claude summarized your website for an event planner today, would it describe you accurately? If not, that is where you start.
