After 10 years of sex education in Indian schools, I've realized our biggest failure: we've overlooked the foundation of all healthy relationships—consent. I've seen firsthand how crucial consent education is for our youth. Yet, it's often overlooked or misunderstood. 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥: Teaching consent helps reduce sexual assault and harassment. It's not just about saying "no" - it's about understanding boundaries and respect, and thus empowering the youth to make informed decisions about their bodies and relationships by understanding consent. Consent education fosters communication skills that benefit all types of relationships, not just romantic ones. 𝐀 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 During a workshop with 14-year-olds, I asked, "When do you need consent?" All of them confidently answered, "For sex." It highlighted a common misconception - that consent is limited to sexual situations. I then shared everyday examples: borrowing a friend's pen, hugging someone, or sharing a classmate's photo online. Suddenly, eyes lit up with recognition. Consent, they realized, is part of our daily lives. Introduce age-appropriate concepts early. Teach consent in friendships, family, and social media. Even young kids can learn about boundaries and asking permission. 𝐀 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 A primary school teacher shared that he always asks for permission from his students for small acts, “May I hold your knee to put the bandaid on you?”, “May I help you to fill your water bottle?”. He said it's magical how the students start copying that behaviour and keep asking permission from him and others in the classroom to do things. Teaching consent can be that easy. 𝐀 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭'𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 After a parent workshop, a father approached me, visibly moved. "I've always told my daughter to be careful," he said, "but I never thought to teach my son about respecting boundaries. This changes everything." This moment underscored a critical point: consent education isn't just for potential victims - it's for everyone. Implementing comprehensive consent education can be challenging due to cultural sensitivities and misconceptions. In a society where 'log kya kahenge' (what will people say) often overshadows personal boundaries, teaching consent is revolutionary. It not only prevents harm but also fosters respect, communication, and healthy relationships." As educators, parents, and community leaders, we have the power to shape a safer, more respectful future. Let's make consent education a priority in every school, every home, and every community. What are your thoughts on consent education? Have you seen its impact in your community? Let's continue this crucial conversation.

Boundaries and choice are always valid Here’s something that’s misunderstood far too often: Just because someone agreed once, doesn’t mean they have to continue. I tell teenagers, young adults, and even parents this: Every yes can be retracted. Every act requires active, ongoing agreement. You have a choice, always. Imagine this: you’re in a moment of intimacy. Something doesn’t feel right. Maybe your partner hesitates, maybe you hesitate. What do you do? You stop. You ask. You listen. You honor that choice. Hear me out: Consent is freedom, not obligation. Consent is respect, not compliance. Consent is always removable, at any point, by either person. Respecting boundaries is universal.  Consent isn’t a checkbox. It’s a mindset, a skill, and a practice we can carry into every human interaction. Here’s a question to reflect on: what would change in your relationships if every yes could be paused, questioned, and honored? How would that make your connections safer, stronger, and more trustworthy?

AR-Assisted Sexual Education: Bringing Anatomy & Consent Into the 21st Century View My Portfolio. Traditional sex education often leaves gaps — outdated diagrams, minimal focus on consent, and little engagement. But augmented reality (AR) is emerging as a powerful tool to close those gaps with interactive, science-based learning. Imagine holding up your phone or AR glasses to see a 3D overlay of anatomy in real time, or practicing consent scenarios where users can rehearse language, body cues, and boundary-setting in safe, immersive environments. The science is clear: Studies in medical training show AR improves knowledge retention by 35–45% compared to static images. Gamified AR tools boost engagement and long-term recall, especially for younger audiences. Consent education delivered interactively could help reduce stigma and empower healthier relationships. At V For Vibes, we’re committed to reimagining sexual wellness education. Beyond innovation in tech, we’ve built a library of thousands of sex education articles — resources that make complex science approachable and empower people with knowledge. AR is the natural next step: taking learning from static text to experiential and embodied education. Do you see AR becoming part of the future classroom for sexual health and consent training? Or will it remain a niche innovation until policy catches up? #SexTech #FemTech #VForVibes #EdTech #AugmentedReality #Consent #SexualWellness

TEACHING CONSENT In a world fraught with increased insensitivity, lack of kindness/ consideration for others and violence, it is imperative that adults, both teachers and especially parents  have frequent conversations with children about respecting others and their personal space. One such incident was shared with me today. Grade two kids are particularly fond of one of the teachers and engage in interesting conversations with her during recess. Having a natural flair for teaching, she also naturally bonds with the kids.( Not all teachers are able to do that )  A fellow colleague often sits with this teacher during recess because she enjoys the banter, the kid talk and their never ending stories. However today the teacher shared that one boy in the class was beginning to express strong emotions towards her. He would say - You are my favourite teacher ! Later he began saying - I love you and I will marry you ! Which are common expressions coming from seven year olds. But the direction  in which the child's thoughts were running was discomforting. The colleague today asked this boy - Have you asked ma'am if you are her favourite too ? He pondered for a while and then said - I know I'm her favourite. She then told him - I'm going to take your teacher with me. Immediately he shot back - I'll tie her to a chair so that you can't take her away '. The teacher asked - Would you like it if I tied you to a chair to prevent you from leaving the room? The smile slid off his face and he went silent. While this entire episode might be perceived as innocent child talk, it's also important to assess where these thoughts are coming from and to understand the need to address them. Children must be taught respect and the need to consider other's feelings. Consent does not apply merely in a sexual context . It's taking permission, it's accepting NO as an answer. Consent needs to be taught early and often. This is an important skill all educators need to learn.

  • "Sex Ed for Guys," a TikTok account run by four students and a professor at Colby College, is gaining traction with over 117K followers for its take on "Positive Masculinity." They're using comedy sketches to address important topics for young men, such as consent, toxic masculinity, and homophobia, in an engaging way. Their viral "That's what's up" vs. "What’s up with that?" video, which has garnered over 2.8M views, demonstrates their ability to make these conversations accessible and relatable. The account aims to counter harmful ideas prevalent in "manosphere" content, like misogyny and anti-feminism, by offering skits that cover topics such as setting boundaries, the nuances of consent versus coercion, and with future plans to more directly address the manosphere culture by discussing healthy friendships, anti-racism, and men’s mental health. #PositiveMasculinity #TikTokEd #SexEdForGuys #Consent #ToxicMasculinity #MensMentalHealth #HealthyMasculinity #GenZEducation https://lnkd.in/eidkJnZc
