Consider the experience of London's Metropolitan Police Real-Time Crime Centre, which processes thousands of data points daily to prioritise resource allocation. The RTCC integrates live incident reports, proactive policing analytics and community feedback into a single operational system. By analysing patterns across multiple datasets, the centre identified emerging crime hotspots 48 hours before they materialised, enabling preventive deployment of officers rather than reactive responses. Similarly, Singapore's Integrated Emergency Response System (IERS) demonstrates how consolidated command centres deliver dual benefits. Leveraging AI and Digital Twins for Enhanced Public Space Security The Protection of Public Space from ever-evolving threats is becoming increasingly critical in today's complicated world. This is where AI meets the next wave of innovation: IoT and Cloud Computing with Digital Twins. But exactly how would these technologies actually change the security and vulnerability assessment of public spaces? 🔹 Research Focus The following research work proposes the new concept in Digital Twin-as-a-Security-Service (DTaaSS) capable of improving security in public space, such as metro stations, leisure sites, and urban squares. This paper presents a comprehensive DTaaS solution that integrates AI, Digital Twins, IoT, Cloud Computing, and Big Data Analytics as part of the whole chain for real-time threat detection and vulnerability assessment. 🔹 Public Space Protection Challenges Public areas, in other words, are 'soft targets' that can hardly avoid being accessible and complicated regarding the current threat scenario. Because of the traditional nature of the methods used, protection methods now have pretty limited capabilities without advanced computational tools integration. 🔹 Integration of Digital Twin The DTaaS framework creates a digital twin inside the physical entities of public spaces for situational awareness and response improvement through simulation, monitoring, and proactive management against potential threats in real time. 🔹 AI-Driven Analytics The framework leverages AI to analyze data streams stemming from a network of sensors, social media, and CCTV cameras for detecting and predicting unknown threats. Bounce, a Bengaluru-based bike rental startup, once faced a huge challenge that threatened its survival. Every day, nearly 150 to 200 cases of theft were reported, from helmets to batteries and even tires. These losses not only increased costs but also created hurdles for smooth operations. To tackle the issue, Bounce decided to turn to technology. The company introduced Bluetooth-enabled helmets, IoT-based tracking systems, and stricter accountability measures for users. These solutions made it easier to monitor vehicles and accessories in real time while discouraging misuse. The results were remarkable. The number of thefts dropped from almost 200 a day to just 1 or 2. This transformation not only saved the startup from heavy financial losses but also became a strong example of how innovation and technology can solve real-world urban problems.
