AdventHealth has made a significant commitment to adopting smart rooms in emergency departments, observation units, and the inpatient setting, with plans to adopt the technology in 13,000 patient rooms. "Rolling this out across thousands of rooms is not just a technical project," Cacciatore says. "It is an operational, cultural, and local change effort." The smart rooms are generating benefits for patients and care team members, according to McKinnis. "Our patients are getting real-time visibility into information about their care," McKinnis says. "We want our patients to feel that they are at the center of care." For #clinicians and other care team members, the smart rooms provide easy access to information drawn from the health system's electronic medical record and improve care coordination. "For our clinicians, we want to use smart rooms to make the delivery of care easier, so they can spend more of their time caring for patients and less time looking for information, scheduling specialists, and lining up support staff such as interpreters," McKinnis says.
