Cracked external screen and now inner screen failing, warranty?
Cracked external screen and now inner screen failing, warranty?
Help

So, I think I know the answer already... But I'm wondering if anyone has been through a similar situation and what the outcome was.

I must have dropped the phone at some point, because the outer screen is cracked. I am kicking myself for opting for the plastic screen protector and case combo. However, the crack is small, on the right side, and doesn't affect the functionality of the outer screen whatsoever. I didn't think much of it when I noticed it. I don't remember dropping it, but phone screens don't usually just crack on their own.

Two months later, I set my phone down beside my bed, working perfectly fine with no internal screen issues. Pick it up in the morning, and the bottom half of the screen has a green tint to it, with the black dot at the hinge on the right hand side. Unfortunate, but the touchscreen still worked.

Well, that was about a week ago, and it's gotten worse. It flickers between the bottom half being green, the whole screen being green and flickering, and the whole screen going black, with the black dot expanding. The touch screen still works afaik.

It is under warranty. if I understand correctly, this is the type of thing that would be covered... if the outer screen wasn't also damaged? I assume if I send it into Moto, they'll claim that physical damage isn't covered under warranty?

I'm pretty certain that the internal screen issue was not caused by whatever caused the external screen to crack. Unfortunately, It's not really in my budget to spend 600 on a new phone 5 months after getting a new one. I should have bought the accidental damage coverage, but here we are.

So, what are my options?

Should I fix the external display myself or have it fixed? would the internal screen possibly be covered then?

Should I send it in as a normal claim, with hope in my heart, and fight them about it for weeks?

Or am I just screwed?
