Summary

Refining sales pitch delivery means improving how you present your product or service to make sure it connects with your audience and addresses their real needs. It involves tailoring your message, focusing on clear outcomes, and learning from every conversation to make your pitch more persuasive.

  • Speak their language: Translate product features into specific solutions that solve problems your potential customers actually care about.
  • Show proof: Share real-world results, testimonials or case studies to back up your claims and build trust.
  • Listen and adjust: Pay attention to customers’ reactions and questions, then refine your pitch to focus on what matters most to them.

I helped a client implement April Dunford's "Sales Pitch" framework in their deck last week. After their first two pitches, they said: "This is completely changing our conversations!" I read April's book when it first came out and have tested the framework with multiple clients since then. It works incredibly well. Here's the framework breakdown (and why each step is so valuable): 1. 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 (𝗣𝗢𝗩): Start with what your experience reveals about the customer's situation and problems you can help solve. This positions you as a trusted expert and frames the conversation around your unique value. 2. 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀: Discuss common solutions customers typically use with honest pros and cons. This builds credibility and helps uncover what they value most in potential solutions. 3. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱: Paint the picture of an ideal solution by summarizing the pros of all alternatives. This creates alignment––if they agree with your perfect world description, they're likely a fit. If not, they probably aren't. 4. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Now introduce your solution and category. This works because you've established the perfect context before revealing your offering. 5. 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲: Focus your demo exclusively on your differentiated features. Don't overwhelm with every feature. Instead, highlight what truly sets you apart and creates unique value. 6. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳: Provide evidence that you deliver on your promises through testimonials, case studies, and results. This validates your claims and builds trust at a critical moment. 7. 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Come prepared with answers to common questions. This demonstrates you understand their concerns and have thought ahead about potential roadblocks. 8. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝗸: Close with a clear next step. A good pitch always includes a straightforward call to action appropriate for where they are in their journey. The beauty of this framework is by the time you reach that final ask, it feels completely natural for both sides. What sales framework has worked best for you? #positioning

Helping Companies Expand & Book Meetings with their Dream Clients in Africa & Beyond | Founder, MrExportToAfrica & ExportIQ | Co-Founder, Amplify Sales

African buyers don't give a damn about your "proven European solutions." They care about whether you understand their actual problem. This is the trap every European company falls into. I've watched it happen 1,000 times. They fly to Lagos. Present their capabilities deck. List their certifications. Show their European client logos. And wonder why the deal dies in "follow-up." Here's what they don't realize: Nobody in Africa gives a damn about your German engineering pedigree. Because African buyers don't buy features. They buy outcomes in THEIR context. Here's what it looks like in practice: Your pitch: ❌ "ISO-certified manufacturing equipment with Industry 4.0 integration" ✅ "Cut your production downtime from 6 days to 8 hours like we did in Dar es Salaam" Your pitch: ❌ "Comprehensive logistics management platform with real-time tracking" ✅ "Stop losing 30% of shipments between port and warehouse" Your pitch: ❌ "European-standard cold chain solutions" ✅ "Reduce post-harvest losses from 40% to 12% and actually get paid for what you grow" Your pitch: ❌ "Proven methodology deployed across 47 countries" ✅ "We've navigated Lagos customs 89 times. Your shipment won't sit there for 6 weeks." Your pitch: ❌ "Cutting-edge refining technology with 99.8% efficiency" ✅ "Stop exporting crude at $80/barrel and importing gasoline at $120/barrel" Your pitch: ❌ "Cloud-based ERP with multi-currency support" ✅ "Know exactly where your cash is when you're operating in 8 countries with 6 different currencies" Your pitch: ❌ "Advanced solar solutions with 25-year warranties" ✅ "Run your factory through load-shedding and stop losing $50K every time the grid fails" This shift changes everything. Stop selling what you make. Start selling what it fixes. Here's what I learned after 100+ projects: European companies lose African deals because they pitch like this: "We have the best technology, proven in Europe, with international certifications, and..." Meanwhile, the Asian competitor who wins says: "You're losing money on X. We fix X. Here's proof from Tanzania." Same product. Different language. Opposite results. Your buyers don't care: → Where your headquarters is → How long you've been in business → What European clients you serve → What standards you're certified for They care: → If you've solved this EXACT problem before → If you understand THEIR market constraints → If you can prove ROI in THEIR context → If you'll still answer the phone in 6 months The brutal truth: You're not losing African deals because your product isn't good enough. You're losing them because you're selling features in a language that worked in Munich... To buyers in Nairobi who need outcomes in Swahili. Simple test: If a competitor with 70% of your capabilities but 100% focus on their problem can steal the deal... You're selling features. 💬 Question for companies selling to Africa: What's one feature you keep pitching that you should translate into an outcome?

🔊 What makes a pitch stick? It’s not just the idea. It’s the impact. Whether you’re showcasing a new workflow, a data-driven insight, or a bold strategic pivot—your pitch should answer one question above all: 👉 “What changes if we say yes?” Here’s what strong pitches consistently deliver: 💡 Clarity of Problem Frame the pain point in operational terms. Not “we’re inefficient,” but “we’re losing $2M annually in deferred production due to X.” 📊 Evidence of Value Show the math. Use benchmarks, analogs, or pilot data to quantify the upside. Translate technical wins into business metrics: time saved, dollars unlocked, risk reduced. 🧠 Strategic Fit Position your idea within the broader mission. Does it align with board priorities? ESG goals? Talent retention? Make the connection explicit. 🚀 Execution Path Outline the first sprint. Who leads? What’s the timeline? What does success look like in 30 days? 🎯 Decision Rationale Make it easy to say yes. Preempt objections. Highlight low lift, high return. Show how this idea de-risks the next big move. A good pitch doesn’t just inform—it accelerates decision-making. It turns curiosity into conviction. If you’re refining a pitch for your team, your board, or your next venture—start with impact. The rest is storytelling. #Leadership #Innovation #StrategicThinking #EnergyTransition #AIatWork #NonprofitStrategy #PitchPerfect

Replace your marketing activity with pipeline | Fractional CMO for B2B & SaaS under $10M | I lead your junior marketing team to build revenue systems | 6x SaaS CMO, 25 yrs | The CEO’s Pipeline Playbook, weekly newsletter

I joined a SaaS company where the sales team was missing their numbers every quarter. The pitch deck was 40 slides of technical jargon. The website read like it was written for engineers, not buyers. Happy customers existed, but when I asked them why they bought, none of them could give me a clear answer. The CEO's instinct was to get in front of more prospects. More outbound, more ads, more pipeline coverage. I told him that was the wrong move. The message was broken. Getting in front of more people with a broken message just means more people say no. I spent the first 30 days listening to sales calls, interviewing customers who renewed, and mapping what those customers valued most about the product. The pitch deck, the website copy, and the sales pitch all said one thing. The customers who were succeeding cared about something completely different. And no two sales pitches were the same. We rebuilt the story from the customer backward. What problem brought them to us. Why they chose us over alternatives. What changed for their business after implementation. Then we built a new strategic buyer narrative that differentiated the company, trained the sales team on that narrative and rebuilt the website around it. The results after testing and refining: we grew revenue by 37% in one year. If your sellers keep getting at-bats but can't convert them, the problem probably isn't volume. It's the story they're telling. This is one of five marketing mistakes I see killing pipeline at B2B SaaS companies. I wrote about all five with the data and the fixes. Free and ungated (obviously). → https://lnkd.in/ghYqfy_V

"Don't scale a broken story." Peter Kazanjy's warning that most founders ignore. The sales mistake that burns millions in hiring: Most founders and people in sales try to scale before they have clarity. - They're pitching the wrong problem. - Framing the solution poorly. - Talking to the wrong persona. No amount of SDRs or CRMs can save you if this is your problem. The solution: Treat sales like product development. Use founder-led sales to actively test and refine your narrative. Just like a product MVP. Here's Kazanjy's framework: Write your hypothesis: "We work with [persona] at [company type] who struggle with [problem]. They usually try [current workaround], which fails because [reason]. Our product [solve mechanism] allows [benefit]. Example: [customer proof]." Test it in the wild. Track the reaction, not the result. Document what parts triggered curiosity: - Where did they nod? Where did they interrupt? - What objections came up? - What words did they use to describe the problem? As Kazanjy puts it: "You're not selling, you're learning." Refine your narrative weekly. - If customers don't care about feature X, drop it from the pitch. - If a certain metaphor helps them get it, lean into it. - If they call the pain "manual data cleanup," start using that exact language. This is sales-market fit. Only after your narrative reliably converts should you build the sales machine. Customizing slides or emails based on the objections you hear shortens feedback loops. The sequence matters: Nail the narrative before you scale the process. Too many founders skip this step. They try to scale a story that doesn't resonate. The result: Expensive sales teams delivering inconsistent results. Get the story right first. Execution will follow.

Pitching has become second nature at this point. I’ve probably delivered the Recruiterflow pitch over a thousand times by now. Tested it with founders, hiring managers, and HR leads. Refined it in DMs, sales calls, and boardrooms. And over time, I’ve realised one thing: Most pitches fail because they skip 3 key things. So here’s the exact framework I use to pitch Recruiterflow, and how you can use it to pitch yourself or your agency: 1️⃣ The WHY Start with the reason your service actually matters. Not “we fill roles.” That’s the bare minimum. What’s the business impact? What happens if they don’t solve the problem? Example: “We don’t just fill roles. We help you hit revenue targets by building elite sales teams.” 2️⃣ The WHO Tailor your message to the person you’re speaking to. What do they care about? Founder? Speed and growth. Hiring manager? Time and quality. HR? Process and retention. Example: “I help founders avoid 6-month hiring delays that stall momentum.” 3️⃣ The PITCH Use a tight Problem → Solution → Proof format. Problem: What’s broken? Solution: What do you fix? Proof: What have you done before? Example: “We helped a SaaS startup go from 4 to 15 reps in 5 months. All are still there and producing.” 4️⃣ Finish with a question Open the door. Make it easy to engage. “What’s been your toughest role to fill lately?” Or “Would 15 minutes next week be worth exploring?” That’s the template. Simple, clean, and it works. #recruiterflow #recruitmentagencies

The Modern Sales Loop A repeatable system every sales leader needs to convert faster. The truth? Most sales teams don’t need more tools. They need better systems. Because today’s buyers are smarter, faster  and harder to impress. Here’s how top performers close faster without chasing harder 1️⃣ Understand Today’s Buyer (Research) — Study how your audience makes decisions — Identify pain points before the first call — Know what builds trust  and what kills it — Stay sharp on trends and competitors You can’t influence what you don’t understand. 2️⃣ Redefine Your Pitch (Reframe)  — Stop pushing features  sell outcomes — Tailor every message to the buyer’s world — Lead with insights, not product talk — Speak in results, not jargon Buyers don’t buy what you sell. They buy what it does for them. 3️⃣ Engage with Intent (Connect) — Ask questions that reveal real needs — Listen 70%, talk 30% — Personalize every touchpoint  email, call, demo — Make them feel understood, not targeted People buy from those who get them. 4️⃣ Guide, Don’t Pressure (Advise) — Position yourself as a trusted advisor — Back every suggestion with data — Focus on solving, not closing — Build mutual commitment, not quick wins Pressure closes deals. Guidance builds partnerships. 5️⃣ Measure, Learn, Repeat (Optimize) — Track what messaging actually converts — Review each loss  learn why — Refine your pitch every cycle — Repeat the loop  buyers evolve constantly Each loop makes you sharper, faster, harder to replace. Remember this: The best salespeople don’t chase. They guide. They teach. They loop. Modernize your pitch. Speak your buyer’s language. Close with confidence. If this resonated, share it with your team. Follow Andrew Wright for more insights on modern sales & marketing. Your Sales Pitch Isn’t Broken. Your Proof Is. Let’s be real: People don’t reject offers because your product is bad. They reject them because they don’t believe you. Because no amount of hype will fix: • Claims without evidence • Empty testimonials • Jargon-filled messaging A flashy pitch grabs attention. But proof builds trust. and growth:  1. Measurable Results Not vague “success stories.” Show numbers, outcomes, and client wins. 2. Social Proof People trust peers more than brands. Highlight real clients, recognizable names, or industries. 3. Simple Messaging Complex words push buyers away. Speak human, show understanding, tell everyday stories. 4. Consistent Experience Your delivery must match your promises. Audit touchpoints and make authenticity part of your DNA. 5. Address Skepticism Ignoring doubts makes you look fake. Acknowledge objections, answer honestly, and turn them into trust. 6. Emotional Connection Facts convince the mind. Stories and transformations touch the heart. 7. Proof Over Time A single success fades fast. Publish updates, reinforce wins, and make advocates visible. The strongest pitches don’t just sell. They build credibility, loyalty, and lasting growth. ↳ Fix your proof ↳ Earn trust ↳ Watch growth follow How are you proving your promises to your audience right now?
