Summary

Video marketing essentials are the foundational strategies and tools that help businesses create engaging videos to connect with audiences, explain products or services, and drive action. This approach turns videos into powerful assets for building trust, simplifying complex ideas, and generating leads.

  • Clarify your goals: Decide what you want each video to achieve—such as raising awareness, driving conversions, or educating viewers—before starting production.
  • Focus on audience needs: Research your target viewers’ questions and challenges, then craft videos that address those points in a relatable, easy-to-understand way.
  • Build your content plan: Organize your video topics to cover product demos, success stories, tutorials, and team introductions, then distribute them on the platforms where your audience spends time.

Here's what we've learned after producing 500+ videos for leading tech companies: 1. Start with the pain point, not the feature → Your first 7 seconds must resonate with your viewer's challenges → Hook them with relatable scenarios, not technical specs 2. Break complex concepts into digestible chunks → Use the "one idea per scene" rule → Layer information progressively to avoid cognitive overload 3. Visual hierarchy matters more than fancy animations → Clear typography & consistent colors > flashy effects → Use motion to guide attention, not distract 4. Script structure that works: • Problem (15 seconds) • Solution introduction (20 seconds) • Key benefits (30-40 seconds) • Social proof + CTA (15 seconds) 5. Sound design is your secret weapon → Professional voiceover sets the tone → Strategic sound effects enhance retention → Background music should complement, not compete The best part? When done right, these videos become your hardest-working sales assets 🚀 Currently seeing 3-4x higher engagement rates compared to static content across our client base. What's your biggest challenge when creating product videos? #B2BMarketing #SaaS #VideoMarketing #ProductMarketing #ProductVideo

Video content is one of the most effective tools for engaging audiences and simplifying complex topics. For law firms, it’s an opportunity to showcase expertise, connect with potential clients, and build trust in a relatable way. Here’s how to create impactful video marketing: 1️⃣ Use Videos to Simplify Complex Topics Legal concepts can feel overwhelming, but short, clear videos can break them down for your audience. Examples: “What to Expect During a Divorce Consultation.” “Understanding Your Rights After a Workplace Accident.” “How to Navigate Probate in the UK.” Tip: Focus on one key topic per video to keep it concise and easy to follow. 2️⃣ Showcase Client Success Stories Sharing anonymised testimonials or case outcomes can demonstrate your firm’s impact and build credibility. Example: A personal injury lawyer could share how their efforts helped a client secure a settlement. Tip: Use storytelling techniques to make these videos relatable and emotionally engaging. 3️⃣ Introduce Your Team Building trust starts with showing the human side of your firm. Use videos to introduce your solicitors, highlight their expertise, and provide a glimpse into your office culture. Examples: “Meet [Name], Our Family Law Specialist.” “A Day in the Life at [Your Firm].” Tip: Keep these videos professional yet approachable, showcasing your team’s personality and professionalism. 4️⃣ Use Live and Recorded Webinars Webinars allow you to engage directly with your audience, offering insights on trending topics or answering questions. Examples: “Navigating GDPR Compliance for Small Businesses.” “Understanding the Implications of No-Fault Divorce.” Tip: Record webinars to repurpose key moments into shorter clips for social media. 5️⃣ Optimise for Accessibility Make your videos accessible to a wider audience by including captions and transcripts. Why It Matters: Many users watch videos without sound, and captions also support viewers with hearing impairments. Tip: Use tools like Rev or Otter.ai to generate captions easily. 6️⃣ Promote Strategically Great video content needs to reach the right audience. Share videos on LinkedIn, your website, and via email newsletters. Use short clips or teaser versions on social media to drive traffic to the full video. Example: Post a 15-second clip of a webinar on LinkedIn with a link to watch the full session. 7️⃣ Track Video Performance Measure how your videos are performing and refine your approach based on data. Metrics to Monitor: Views, engagement (likes/comments), watch time, and conversions. Example: If explainer videos outperform team introductions, focus your efforts on educational content. Videos are a powerful way to engage your audience, showcase your expertise, and build trust. By tailoring your content to client needs and presenting it in an accessible, relatable way, your firm can create meaningful connections that lead to results. 💬 What legal topics would you cover in a video?

Before jumping into a product video project, there are a few things every brand should have ready. Because a great video doesn’t just look good, it connects, converts, and tells your story clearly. Here’s what helps make that happen Clear goal – What do you want the video to achieve? Awareness? Conversions? App downloads? This drives every creative choice. Defined target audience – Who are we talking to? Founders? Developers? Everyday users? Knowing this helps set tone and style. Strong product positioning – What makes your product different or worth choosing? Brand assets – Logo, colors, fonts, and existing brand guidelines (so the video aligns with your identity). Product access or demo materials – A live account, demo video, screenshots, or design files help show real product interaction. Script or key message – Even if rough, having your core talking points makes scripting sharper. Testimonials or results (if available) – Real-world proof adds credibility. Distribution plan – Where will this video live? Socials, website, paid ads? This affects format, pacing, and duration.

Fire your marketer if they’re still pushing Instagram reels and TikTok dances for your B2B manufacturing, IT, materials, niche services or technical biz… Your next customer isn’t scrolling welding hacks set to a beat. They’re on YouTube typing “how to cut CNC setup time” or “zero-trust network deployment step by step.” Here’s how to win: ▶︎ Audit your audience’s questions. Use Google search and YouTube autocomplete or AnswerThePublic to mine real search queries. ▶︎ Create deep-dive videos that solve those problems: demos, case studies, how-tos, expert interviews. Aim for longer-form, high-value content. ▶︎ Optimize for search: clear titles, keyword-rich descriptions, timestamped chapters, and a CTA to download a guide or book a demo or other value adds. ▶︎ Repurpose ruthlessly into: • 60-second LinkedIn clips with one key takeaway each • Quote graphics for Twitter and Instagram Stories • Shorts and TikTok/Reels teasers that hook and drive back to the full video or a landing page, or generate qualified engagement. (Think: Comment CHECKLIST to get the complete list... type prompts when the clip only covers the first two) ▶︎ Measure what matters: watch time, ranking in search, referral traffic, leads from video CTAs and pipeline impact. “But I don’t want to be on camera.” Use screen captures, product demos, floor walkthroughs, voiceovers, slides, customer testimonials, recorded calls you were already on camera for, or AI avatars. No need for a Hollywood setup. “This is too time-intensive.” Batch-film on one day, outsource editing or leverage AI tools. (It's only time-intensive if you choose a time-intensive production option.) A single video can feed your whole content engine. Stop chasing trends and likes… start owning search. YouTube builds trust, authority and fuels your pipeline. Use other platforms to remind your audience you offer real value - beyond a chuckle at Frank in Accounting, who is still getting the timing wrong when he tries to floss. Remain awesome. :)

Early in my career I drove 120M views on YouTube. In fact, my strategy was so successful that Google made my case study into an ad campaign. (yes, that's me!) Here are the principles that made it work then and what I'd do differently today: #1. Be totally obsessed with your client journey. To do this, you need to understand your ideal client. My ideal client happened to be a 4-year old. I poured over popular kids TV shows, read books they loved, hung out with my ICP on the playground. You can do the same thing no matter what product you sell. -What questions they have in the buying journey?  -What goals are they solving for?  -Where do they go to get information?  -How do they consume content?  -What type of language do they use?  (Pro tip: Feed your Gong transcripts into ChatGPT.) -What motivates them?  -What scares them? -- (The best CRO I ever worked with said, “Find their pain point and stick your finger in it and rub hard.” Graphic, but unforgettable. Brad Myers) And create content that fits in with that journey. #2. Be lean and have a good mic With just me and a part-time videographer, we produced 47 videos in one year. We built a recording studio in the office and made a dolly out of PVC pipes we bought from Home Depot. People will forgive low production value. They will not forgive bad audio. If you invest in only one thing, make it a good microphone. #3. I’d break my video content into three categories: Drive Traffic: Start by turn your top 5 performing blogs into videos. Retain Clients: Build a library that teaches customers how to get more value from your product. Close Sales Faster: Address your top objections head-on in video form. Here's what I'd do differently today: #4. Invite your ideal client to create content with you. Instead of cold outreach, I’d take my top 50 target accounts and invite them onto a podcast or video series. It’s a warmer way to start a conversation and build a deeper, more meaningful relationship. From there, I’d slice the conversation into highlights and distribute them across social channels. This does three powerful things: --> Builds brand association between them and you --> Positions you as a thought leader with your audience --> Creates a flywheel of content that attracts more of the right people I’m running these exact plays with a few clients right now, helping them turn audience insights into content that drives sales. If you want to see what that might look like for your business, DM me and I’ll share a couple of examples.

Sprinkling a few random videos into your marketing and hoping for the best? That won’t cut it anymore. It’s 2025: virtually 96% of B2B organizations use video in their marketing (Demand Gen Report), which means your competitors almost certainly do. To stand out, you need a strategy – and data. Here’s a provocative question: Do you know which specific videos are driving your sales? If not, it’s time to find out. If you aren’t tracking which video content drives which SKU or conversion, you’re already behind – because your competition is. Winning teams treat video like any other mission-critical program: they set KPIs, A/B test different approaches, and double down on what works. The beauty of digital video platforms is you can measure everything from drop-off rates to CTA clicks. Use that! Having a data-driven approach also means no more half-hearted video efforts. A “half-baked” video strategy – inconsistent quality, no optimization, no measurement – is a major turn-off for customers. It can actually hurt your brand. On the flip side, a well-executed video strategy backed by analytics can yield tremendous ROI. For example, marketers leveraging advanced video analytics and personalization are seeing significant boosts in engagement and pipeline impact. Gartner even predicts that companies who optimize video with analytics will substantially outperform those who don’t in digital commerce revenue growth. The era of simply making videos is over – now it’s about making videos work for you with data and insight. ✅ If this is an area you’re looking to shore up, let’s chat. I’ve been diving deep into video performance metrics and would love to exchange ideas on building a smarter video strategy. Can you scale video without showing up? Faceless video is not “less personal.” It is a system choice. The tension is real. You want more video output. You also want your brand to feel like you, every time. The fix is a simple recipe you can repeat: Pick one topic. Choose one visual style. Generate a tight script. Add b-roll suggestions. Export variants for each platform. That is how you turn “I don’t want to be on camera” into consistent content. Not by hiding. By designing. Personal does not require a face. It requires on-brand visuals, clear captions, and a point of view. Your audience should recognize your thinking in the first two lines. If you build this as a system, you stop relying on motivation. You start shipping. Core takeaway: Faceless video works when your voice stays visible. - Use a “topic to variants” workflow: one idea becomes LinkedIn, Shorts, and Reels with platform-specific intros and captions. - Lock a visual kit: fonts, colors, lower-thirds, and caption style so each video feels like your brand, not stock content. - Script for listening: short sentences, one idea per line, and captions that carry the meaning even on mute. - Add b-roll with intent: match visuals to claims, objections, and steps so the video earns trust faster. If I was a Marketing Director, I'd focus on 5 things around video in 2024: 1. The return of long-form. 2024 is the year of storytelling. A good story has a necessary variant to be developed: Time. Use it to your advantage. Don’t feedback only based on grabbing attention, or selling your product. This year build your brand. Tell the right story to the right people. You’ll get the numbers. People are willing to reshare more than ever on socials. 2. Use the magic of VFX creators. CGI videos went viral many times in 2023. Across socials, many VFX creators grew their personal brand and got millions of followers, views, and likes. All while making their clients stand out. Brandon is a great example. If you’re after influencers who can add a creative spin to your brand, they’re the ones. Note: Hope to see more females in the space, this group is sadly extremely male-dominant. 3. Generative AI Many brands & agencies explored AI in their pitch process, but few put it on the screen e.g. Salesforce. AI is taking over this year, and many creatives will start pitching harder the use of it on signed-off clips. Open your mind, listen to their ideas, and make sure they align with your objectives. If it does, don’t be afraid to say YES. 4. Metrics & Optimisation Videos have been around for a while but: The industry is filled with creatives and lacks strategists. 9/10 clients I started working with have never tracked the performance of video assets they create. I’ve even seen advertising agencies mess this around. 2024 is the year when Marketing Directors should demand performance tracking from their video teams. All the tools are out there to do it, so there is no excuse. Note: If you do expect optimization, prepare to pay more. Production and Distribution are two different beasts. 5. A well-structured repurposed machine. Don't waste money. Maximise the value of your assets. You might have: 1. Unused footage on a hard drive. 2. Footage that you've used only once and can repurpose. 3. Platforms that you've not been active on because you think you lack content. It's simple, the more eyes, the more opportunities. Repurpose was another big keyword in 2023. And as an outcome, many tools came out to improve the process. Build your content plan, produce based on a long-term basis, and track what you've in your hard drives. Brand and performance go together in 2024. P.S. What would you add to those?

Video consumption on LinkedIn has exploded, with uploads increasing 𝟰𝟱% 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 and short-form content growing twice as fast as other formats. Therefore, now is the perfect time to incorporate video into your LinkedIn marketing strategy. According to Sprout Social, Inc.'s 2024 Content Strategy Report, short-form videos under 30 seconds generate the highest engagement, with 66% of consumers ranking them as the most engaging in-feed content type. This aligns perfectly with the platform's push towards vertical video formats similar to TikTok and Instagram Reels. LinkedIn offers three primary video formats: 1. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 - Posted directly to your feed, these videos are ideal for brand awareness, thought leadership and audience education. Short videos perform best, especially with a strong opening hook and a straightforward call to action. 2. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲—This format enables the broadcasting of live video content for virtual events like panels, Q&AS, announcements, or product launches. It creates direct connections with your audience and generates, on average, 23 times more comments than regular videos. 3. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗔𝗱𝘀 - These paid posts appear in users' feeds based on your targeting parameters. You can filter by job title, company, industry and other criteria to reach decision-makers effectively. LinkedIn reports that audiences are two to three times more likely to associate positive traits with a brand after seeing its LinkedIn ads. 4. 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 - LinkedIn's answer to TikTok-style content: full-screen, vertical videos that are short, scrollable and designed for discovery on both desktop and mobile. This feature is still being tested and is unavailable to all users. Focus on "edutainment" content for maximum impact—entertaining educational videos that explain your products or services through storytelling and visuals. Remember that 79% of LinkedIn videos are watched with sound off, so captions are essential. With four out of five LinkedIn members involved in business decisions and possessing twice the buying power of average online audiences, video content offers unparalleled access to decision-makers in a professional context. Sprout Social's LinkedIn integration makes managing this video strategy seamless. It allows you to schedule content, track performance metrics, and optimise your approach across multiple channels—all from one platform. https://lnkd.in/dMNnK2yc
