Our work strives to cover all corners of the industry, from niche fandoms the gaming community is known for, to breaking news that is shared far and wide. We take all comers, and value all opinions (except the terrible ones - you know which ones those are).

TheGamer has been the first to report on some major gaming-related events. Remember that time a theatre full of children accidentally watched a horror movie when they went to see Detective Pikachu? That was us. We wrote that.

    Remote Flexible Mid Level

    TheGamer is looking for eager and talented US-based Gaming News Contributors to join our team.

     

    At TheGamer, we are focused on covering the newest developments and topics in the gaming industry. We're looking for writers who are well-versed in a wide variety of game franchises and genres to contribute consistent and high-quality News content to our site. 

     

    The ideal candidate is team-oriented, driven, communicative, and committed to growing alongside our site's reach and vision. As a News Contributor, you will assist with covering the biggest topics in the gaming industry, editorializing important details about the most popular titles, and diving deep into a variety of communities. If you share a passion for gaming, a love of news writing, and a willingness to learn then this is the role for you!

     

    Your Responsibilities 

    • Be a dedicated and consistent contributor to the site.
    • Contribute news content related to a variety of gaming topics.
    • Have strong editorial instincts and ideate your own topics regularly.
    • Identify compelling writing angles
    • Research and source topics proficiently.
    • Bring original topics and a plethora of gaming knowledge to the table.
    • Work under tight deadlines and submit articles for publication on time.
    • Report to the Lead News Editor and implement feedback efficiently.
    • Collaborate with the editorial team to produce high-quality content.

    Experience and Skills

    • Experience optimizing content for Google Discover.
    • Working experience in gaming journalism or a related field.
    • Experience in producing gaming and/or related content.
    • In-depth familiarity with and very strong passion for the gaming industry.
    • Knowledge of the following genres: open-world, action-adventure, FPS, RPGs and more.
    • Knowledge on the following titles: GTA, Pokemon, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Zelda, and Roblox.
    • Experience with a custom CMS, preferred.
