Our client pivoted from Sales to Data Analytics. They did it with no formal data experience. Here are 6 strategies they used to make it happen: Context: When our client reached out, they were stuck. They had spent months applying to data analyst roles with no success, despite completing a data analytics course. They had even received a verbal offer that was later rescinded. Frustration was building, and they were considering a return to account management. We teamed up with them, and things started to change: 1. They Clarified Their Target Role Before working with us, their approach was to just apply to any and every data analytics role that popped up. We helped shift that mindset to focus more of our energy on a smaller set of highly-aligned companies. They used this clarity to create a “Match Score” for each opportunity—filtering out roles that didn’t align with their ideal job. 2. They Optimized Their LinkedIn For What Employers Wanted To See Before joining, they weren’t getting any outreach for roles on LinkedIn. We revamped their LinkedIn headline and profile to include keywords specific to the Data Analytics space as well as projects that illustrated their capabilities. Then the inbound messages began to roll in. 3. They Shifted Their Time From Online Apps To Networking Instead of just applying online, they reached out to alumni from an analytics bootcamp they attended. They specifically focused on people who had successfully transitioned into data roles. One alum gave them insider insights into the hiring process at a target company and even suggested key skills to emphasize their application. 4. They Built A Consistent Outreach System They started sending 5 personalized LinkedIn messages per day to data professionals. They focused on asking for advice, then taking action on it and using it to open the door for a follow-up. This helped build rapport and trust, which led to multiple referrals and interviews. 5. They Went Deep On Interview Prep They knew that other candidates would likely have more “traditional” experience to lean on, so they went deep on interview prep. For technical interviews, they built a portfolio project analyzing Airbnb data to showcase SQL and visualization skills. For behavioral interviews, they prepared answer examples that tied directly into the company’s biggest needs and goals. 6. They Stayed Persistent & Flexible Originally, the recruiter who reached out was asking about a business analyst role. After pitching their SQL and Python skills, our client convinced the recruiter to get them in the door for a data analytics position. Then they used their networking to gain insider info on goals and challenges which they pitched in their interview. That approach secured the offer.

You don’t need more applications. You need better ones. If your job search strategy is “apply to everything and hope something sticks”... it’s time to pivot. In today’s market, the candidates getting interviews aren’t sending 100s of resumes. They’re sending 10 targeted ones - and making them count. Here’s how to shift from volume to precision: ✅ 1. Target with intent Build a list of 30–40 companies that align with your strengths, values, and career goals. Look for: - Roles that match 80–90% of your skills - Companies whose mission resonates with you - Places where you can add unique value based on your background ✅ 2. Research before you reach out You don’t need to read every blog post - but do enough homework to show you actually care. Check the company’s website, recent LinkedIn updates, or product announcements. Then tailor your message: “I saw your team recently launched [X] — I’ve worked on similar projects in [Y], and I’d love to contribute to [Z].” Small effort. Big impact. ✅ 3. Write your resume for the reader Each resume should speak directly to the job description. Use their language. Match their needs. Generic = ignored. Aligned = noticed. ✅ 4. Warm up the connection Before you apply, connect with someone on the team. Engage with their posts Send a thoughtful, short message Ask for insight — not a job This increases your odds of getting a response and a referral. ✅ 5. Treat applications like a pitch Use every touchpoint - cover letter, message, interview - to sell your value. Tie your experience directly to their needs. Be clear, confident, and specific. 🎯 More isn’t better. Better is better. 10 thoughtful applications can outperform 100 generic ones — every single time. If you’re ready to stop spinning your wheels and start landing interviews, follow me for daily job search strategies that actually work.

Your Resume Isn’t the Problem—Your Strategy Is. Most job seekers assume that more applications = more chances, but in reality, the job market doesn’t work like that. Here’s why sending out hundreds of applications isn’t a strategy—it’s a trap: 1. Cold Applying = Low Success Rate - Recruiters receive thousands of applications—most never even get seen by a human. - If your resume isn’t getting past ATS filters, it doesn’t matter how well-written it is. - The real game-changer? Referrals. They bypass the black hole of online applications. 2. You’re Applying Everywhere Instead of Being Strategic + A tailored application to the right company is worth more than 50 generic applications. Instead of mass applying, research companies that: + Actually hire people with your background + Have roles aligned with your skills + Have a track record of hiring international candidates (if applicable) 3. You’re Invisible Online If a hiring manager Googles your name, what do they find? + A strong LinkedIn presence gives recruiters confidence before they even see your resume. + Posting your work, projects, and insights turns you into an applicant they already know. 4. You’re Not Leveraging Your Network Fact: Most people get jobs through someone they know—not through a cold application. If you’re not having conversations, reaching out to people, and engaging with industry professionals, you’re missing out on the hidden job market. So What Should You Do Instead? + Target companies that are the right fit instead of applying everywhere. + Get referrals whenever possible. Even a small connection helps. + Make sure your LinkedIn and portfolio showcase your work—because recruiters look before they reach out. + Stop blindly applying and start standing out. The best opportunities don’t go to the most qualified candidates. They go to the ones who know how to get noticed.

Hitting “Easy Apply” on 50 LinkedIn jobs will land you a callback… If you still believe this in 2025, you’re basically ghosting your own career. Every week, I hear frustrated voices: “No one is calling back. I’ve applied everywhere!” The fastest way to invisibility on LinkedIn? Relying on Easy Apply as your “job search strategy.” Here’s what 90% of the job seekers do: ✖️ Spend hours firing off the same resume to every job that pops up. ✖️ Assume quantity = opportunities. ✖️ Hope recruiters will magically “find” them in a pool of 400+ applicants per role. Here’s what actually gets results in 2025 and what my most successful students do differently: 1️⃣ Zero In, Don’t Scattershot Research your dream companies (HCL, KPMG, Capgemini…) and target roles that match your strengths. One of my student applied to just 8 tailored roles and landed 3 interviews after months of silence using “Easy Apply.” 2️⃣ Personalize, Personalize, Personalize No more generic resumes. Adapt your CV and cover letter to the exact role, highlight experiences similar to what that company values. 3️⃣ Network with Intention The true job market is built on relationships, not robotic clicks. Send a thoughtful message to a current employee (not HR) asking about their experience, insights on the team, or referencing a recent project the company posted about. Example: “Hi Priya, I noticed HDFC is expanding into digital lending. I’ve worked on a fintech project at my campus, would love to hear how your team approaches new tech at scale!” 4️⃣ Show Up Beyond the Application Engage with the company’s LinkedIn posts, share relevant content on your feed, and comment insightfully. Recruiters at top companies notice candidates who contribute ideas and solutions publicly. 5️⃣ Follow Up But Make It Count After every application, send a thoughtful note to the recruiter when you spot their name in the job post. Example: “Hi [Name], I’ve just applied for the Business Analyst role at Barclays. I’m excited by your team’s work on data-driven strategy. Happy to share more about my recent process optimization at university, which saved 80+ man-hours in a term. Looking forward to connecting!” Only 2% of online job applications ever reach an interview. But when you combine focus, personalization, and real human connection, you can flip those odds in your favor. #jobsearch #careergrowth #interview #interviewpreparation #dreamjob

When I started job hunting, I thought the secret was to just apply for as many roles as possible. Wake up, open a few job boards, apply, and repeat. But I later realized that’s not a strategy. That’s just movement not progress. If you want real results, you need a job search strategy . Here’s what that actually looks like: ✔️Decide how many hours you’ll commit. Be honest with yourself how many hours can you give each day to your job search? When you’re just starting out, 4–5 focused hours a day is enough. As you go, you can stretch it to 8–10 hours if you’re serious about landing something soon. ✔️Decide which day and which time of day. Block calendar time and protect it. Pick days and a time window that works with your life mornings, afternoons, evenings and keep it consistent. Example: 2:00–6:00 pm every weekday. When that block arrives, you work on the job search, nothing else. No scrolling. ✔️Decide what you will do in those blocks. Don’t try to do everything at once. Give each day a clear purpose and do it well. Example schedule: • Monday: Search job boards and apply to 5–10 roles. • Tuesday: LinkedIn day, update your profile, post one helpful item, send connection requests. • Wednesday: Cold emails and outreach to founders or hiring managers. • Thursday: Upskill, learn a tool, take a short course, or work on a portfolio task. • Friday: Interview prep, mock answers, review common questions, follow up on applications. Why this works: you stop guessing and start testing. With a plan you can see what actions produce replies or interviews. Then you double down on what works and drop what doesn’t.

After 15 years placing thousands of candidates, I'll tell you the surprising truth: Most people focus only on the visible parts of their job search: their LinkedIn profile, cover letters, and applications. While these matter, they're not the whole story. The real winning strategy? It's simpler than you think, and it complements your polished materials. Here are the 3 strategies that create real results: 1. Build three distinct networks ▷Recruiters (they have inside access) ▷Peers (they share real experiences) ▷Leaders (they make hiring decisions) Each serves a different purpose. Each opens different doors. 2. Focus on human connections. Instead of mass applying, tell 5 trusted contacts exactly: ▷What you want to do ▷What you're good at ▷Where you want to work They'll open doors you didn't know existed. 3. Create a repeatable process ▷Track your applications ▷Schedule weekly networking ▷Set clear follow-up dates The job search isn't about motivation. It's about methodology. Here's the truth: Finding your next role isn't about having the perfect resume or cover letter. It's about having a strategic process that focuses your energy where it matters most. I've watched it work from behind the recruiter's desk thousands of times. Candidates who use this approach: ▷Get 3x more interviews ▷Land offers in half the time ▷Build lasting career relationships ⭐Follow me for more insider recruiting tips that actually work. What's your biggest job search challenge?

Automation & Data Engineer | Helping Women in Engineering Land Roles, Get Promoted & Increase Pay | 10+ Yrs Experience | $10M+ Projects

I've spoken to women engineers who submitted 800+ applications and still had no offer. Not 80. Months of rejection. Months of silence. Months of wondering: "Will I ever land a role?" My answer is always: Yes. One client. 847 applications. 11 months. No interviews. Six weeks after switching to a targeted strategy, 3 interviews at companies she had actually chosen. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. Most engineers think the problem is: "I need to apply more." The real problem is often: "I am applying without a strategy." The mistake? Engineers go wide. They apply to anything. They accept anything. They use the same resume. They hope volume will create luck. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘅 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁. 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. That is why I teach my clients the FOCUS Job Search Framework: 𝗙 → 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 Stop saying "I'm open to anything." Define: → 2–3 role titles → 2–3 industries → 10 target companies → 1 clear career direction Clarity makes your resume sharper. Your LinkedIn stronger. Your networking easier. 𝗢 → 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 Study 10–15 job postings before applying. Look for: → repeated skills → repeated tools → repeated project types → repeated responsibilities Do not guess what employers want. Let the market tell you. 𝗖 → 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 Most engineers network after rejection. Reverse the order. → follow people at your target companies → comment on their posts → connect with engineers in similar roles → message recruiters with a clear reason 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲. 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. 𝗨 → 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 Your resume should not say "here is everything I have done." It should say "here is why I fit this role." Adjust: → headline → summary → key skills → project bullets → technical keywords → measurable impact A tailored resume does not just pass the screening. It makes the hiring manager feel like you were written for this role. 𝗦 → 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 The goal is not 100 applications this week. The goal is a system you can repeat. Track: → companies targeted → people contacted → replies received → referrals created → interviews booked What gets tracked gets improved. A tracked search is a search you control. Engineers who track their search stop feeling like they are waiting. They start feeling like they are building. You do not need to chase every job. 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘀. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲. You need to become visible to the right companies, for the right roles, with the right message. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱. 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲. 📩 If you are a woman in engineering looking to land your next role, I have 3 coaching seats available this month. I've built this program to deliver real progress from session one. If after 3 sessions you don't have a clear target list, a stronger profile, and at least one warm conversation started, you pay nothing. DM me "CAREER" if you'd like to learn more. 🔔 Follow Dima Abu-Khaled for strategies to land your next role and accelerate your career. ❤️ Repost this for the woman engineer who needs a better strategy, not more applications.

I've tracked 500+ immigrant job searches in 2025. Today, I'm sharing the 7 tactical moves that actually work, based on real success stories (Save and repost this one for others ♻️) First of all: - These tactics work regardless of your background I've seen these strategies land $150K+ roles Most people skip these fundamentals Happy implementation! 😉 1. The "Reverse Network" Strategy (The game-changer) Instead of cold applying, find employees at your target companies first. This flips the script completely. Send this exact message: "Hi [Name], I'm researching [Company] and noticed your background in [their field]. Could you spare 15 minutes to share your experience?" Result: 70% response rate vs 2% from cold applications. The key? You're asking for advice, not a job. The "Value-First" Cold Outreach (The attention grabber) Never lead with "I need sponsorship." Lead with insights instead. Template: "Hi [Name], I noticed [Company] is expanding into [market]. I've helped similar companies increase market penetration by 30%. Here's a brief case study..." Why it works: You're solving their problems before asking for anything. The "Alumni Goldmine" hack (the warm connection) Use LinkedIn's alumni search tool. Filter by your target companies. Shared university experience = instant conversation starter. Your message: "Hi [Name], fellow [University] grad here! Saw you're at [Company]. I'm exploring similar paths after [Your Program]. Quick 15-minute chat?" Alumni are 3x more likely to respond than strangers. The "Portfolio before resume" approach (visual proof) Create a simple website showcasing your work. Include: • 3-4 case studies with numbers • Before/after examples • Clear problem → solution stories Employers remember what they can SEE, not just read. The "Community Networking" play Volunteer for industry events or professional associations (I host a ton of them) You'll work alongside hiring managers as equals, not job seekers. This removes the awkward "I need a job" dynamic completely. The "Informational Interview" follow-up (my personal favorite) After every informational interview, send this within 24 hours: "Thanks for the insights about [specific topic]. Your point about [mention something specific] was particularly helpful. I'd love to stay connected." Then actually stay in touch with valuable articles/updates. The "Skills Translation" Method (The clarity creator) Don't just list what you did. Translate it to business impact: Instead of: "Managed social media accounts" Write: "Increased social media engagement 40%, generating 150+ qualified leads monthly" Numbers speak louder than descriptions. Read this far? Virtual handshake. 🤝 These strategies have helped hundreds land roles at Meta, Google, Microsoft, and tons of startups. The secret? Focus on building genuine relationships first. The opportunities follow naturally. Ed ❤️ P.S. What's worked best in your job search? Share below - I read every comment :)

I train, verify & place clinical research talent — CRC, CRA, CTA, PV, Medical Affairs, Data Management | 300+ Placed, 89% Offer Rate | Founder, YANA Careers & Competency Labs | Q-IAOCR, CPCC

Cold applications are career lottery tickets. You're playing odds you'll never beat.   I've Never Cold Applied to a Clinical Research Job And that's not a flex. It's a strategy. After 15+ years in this industry and helping 100+ professionals land their dream roles, here's what I discovered: THE COLD APPLICATION MYTH: "Just apply to 100 jobs and something will stick" Really? Let me show you the math: • 500 applicants per posting • 1 hiring manager • 10 seconds per resume • 0.2% callback rate You're not a candidate. You're a number. And numbers get deleted. HERE'S WHAT I DID INSTEAD: I got warm. Not networking-event warm. Not LinkedIn-connection warm. Strategic relationship warm. THE WARM APPLICATION PLAYBOOK: 1️⃣ IDENTIFY THE COMPANY Not the job. The company. Where do you want to work? Start there. 2️⃣ FIND THE PEOPLE • Clinical Operations Manager? Connect. • Senior CRA? Message them. • Department Director? Engage their content. Build relationships before you need them. 3️⃣ ADD VALUE FIRST Comment thoughtfully on their posts. Share relevant industry insights. Congratulate their wins. Be memorable for the right reasons. 4️⃣ PLANT SEEDS "Love what your team is doing with decentralized trials" "Your approach to patient recruitment is innovative" "Would love to learn more about your department" Curiosity opens doors. 5️⃣ WAIT FOR THE HARVEST 3 months later: "Hey, we have an opening..." 6 months later: "Thought of you for this role..." 9 months later: "Want to join our team?" Now you're not applicant #241. You're the person they already know and trust. THE RESULTS SPEAK: My last 3 roles? ✓ Referred by someone I built a relationship with ✓ Recruited by someone who knew my work ✓ Invited to apply by the hiring manager Zero cold applications. 100% success rate. But here's what most people get wrong: They network when they need a job. That's not networking. That's desperation. Real networking happens when you DON'T need anything. THE UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH: While you're spray-and-praying resumes... Someone else is having coffee with the hiring manager. While you're playing the numbers game... Someone else is playing the relationship game. Guess who wins? HERE'S YOUR ACTION PLAN: Stop applying. Start connecting. ✓ Pick 5 companies you'd love to work for. ✓ Find 3 people at each company. ✓ Engage meaningfully for 30 days. Watch what happens. Because here's what changes everything: And relationships aren't built overnight. They're built one genuine interaction at a time. So here's my question: Are you still cold applying? Or are you ready to warm up? Drop your biggest job search realization below. P.S. That hiring manager scrolling LinkedIn right now? They're not looking at applications. They're looking at their network. Make sure you're in it. #ClinicalResearchCareers #NetworkingStrategy #JobSearchTips #CareerAdvice #WarmConnections

847 job applications. 3 interviews. 📊 This job seeker was playing the volume game. It wasn't working: I reviewed their application tracker.  The numbers told a painful story. → 847 applications sent → 3 interviews scheduled   → 0 offers received → 0.3% response rate This is what I call 'The Volume Game.'  And it's burning people out. 🎯 HERE'S WHAT ACTUALLY WORKS: The Value Method: 1️⃣ SEND 10 APPLICATIONS PER WEEK (not 100) Each one deserves your full attention 2️⃣ CUSTOMIZE DEEPLY (60-90 minutes per application) • Match keywords from the job description • Tailor your accomplishments to their needs • Adjust your professional summary • Remove irrelevant experience 3️⃣ BUILD CONNECTIONS (before applying) • Find someone at the company on LinkedIn • Send a thoughtful connection request • Ask one insightful question about the role • Mention this connection in your application 4️⃣ FOLLOW UP STRATEGICALLY (after 5-7 days) • One professional email • Reference something specific about the company • Reiterate your unique value proposition 📊 THE MATH THAT MATTERS: Volume Game: 100 generic applications × 0.5% response = 0.5 interviews Value Method: 10 tailored applications × 20% response = 2 interviews Same time investment. 3x better results. ⚡ WHY THE VALUE METHOD WINS: • Shows genuine interest in the company • Demonstrates attention to detail • Passes ATS with better keyword matching • Creates memorable first impressions • Builds your network simultaneously • Reduces application burnout 🧠 THE PSYCHOLOGICAL CHALLENGE: Here's what's hard: The Value Method feels less productive. You sent 10 applications this week, not 100. Your tracker shows fewer rows. It feels like you're not doing enough. But activity isn't achievement. 'Doing more' isn't the goal. 'Getting interviews' is the goal. 💡 HOW TO MAKE THE SWITCH: • Set a quality target, not quantity (10/week max) • Track response rate, not application count • Celebrate interview invites, not applications sent • Build a base resume, then customize efficiently • Use tools to match keywords without starting fresh • Create a connection template for LinkedIn outreach 🎯 THE REALITY CHECK: Every hiring manager I know says the same thing: 'I can spot a generic application in 5 seconds.' 'The tailored ones always rise to the top.' 'If someone took time to understand our needs, it shows.' ✨ START YOUR VALUE METHOD TODAY: • Pick 3 dream companies • Research their current challenges • Find 2-3 employees to connect with • Spend 90 minutes crafting each application • Make every word count Quality beats quantity. Every. Single. Time. The jobs worth having are worth the extra effort. Build tailored resumes efficiently with smart tools → https://lnkd.in/eGbtuACr #JobSearch #ResumeStrategy #JobApplications #JobSeekers #TailoredResume 👍 To let me know you're switching to quality. ♻️ Reshare to save someone from application burnout. 🔔 Follow me for more job search & resume tips.
