To all candidates submitting job applications, here is an important message from someone who reviews applications daily: It is necessary to address a few common concerns that many applicants have during the application process. Firstly, your email greeting—whether it begins with “Dear Hiring Manager,” “Hello,” or no greeting at all—does not determine whether your CV will be opened. Recruiters review applications based on content, not salutations. Secondly, cover letters are only required when explicitly requested by the employer. What ultimately influences your chances of being shortlisted is the quality and relevance of your CV, not the length of your email. However, the most critical point is this: always attach your CV. Sending an email without an attachment is one of the quickest ways candidates lose opportunities. While some recruiters may follow up, many will not. Please do not take that risk. To enhance your visibility, ensure your CV is saved using your full name. If your CV is tailored to a specific position, include the job title in the file name. Incorporate relevant keywords from the job description so your CV appears during applicant searches. Shift your approach from merely listing job duties to demonstrating how you have solved problems. Every vacancy represents a gap within an organization—your CV should clearly position you as the solution. Below is a concise job application checklist you should always follow: 1. Use the job title as the subject line 2. Keep your email brief, clear, and professional (2–3 lines) 3. Attach your CV—do not forget this 4. Include your full name and contact information in your email signature. By adhering to these simple but essential steps, you will significantly improve your chances of standing out for the right reasons. 👌

Most job applications disappear into a black hole. And most candidates never know why... You hit "submit" and… WAIT. No call. No email. Nothing. At least a rejection would tell you that they got your résumé! It's nuts. A client of mine got an interview invitation last week. For a role she applied to last September. That’s the hiring process in 2026. Worse? Waiting quietly gives employers all the control. In fact, by the time the email arrived... She was a month into a new job. Here’s the problem most job seekers miss: Submitting an application puts you at the back of the line. Because hundreds of people do the exact same thing. My clients treat the application as step one. Not the strategy. Here's exactly what she did differently: ✅ Be an early bird (this is HUGE) ↳ Apply within the first 96 hours a job is posted ↳ Data shows early applicants are 8x more likely to get an interview ✅ Become visible to the company ↳ Engage meaningfully with their LinkedIn content (not just likes!) ↳ Show them you understand their business and challenges ✅ Find the hiring manager ↳ Use the "People" tab on the company page to ID them ↳ Connect with a personal message (DON'T ask for a job) ✅ Make direct contact ↳ Find their work email (try hunter[dot]io) ↳ Send a brief note saying you applied + attach résumé ✅ Build internal allies ↳ Connect with people in similar roles ↳ Ask how they like working at the company ✅ Follow up Strategically ↳ Wait 5-7 days, then check in with your contacts ↳ Keep it brief and offer to provide any additional information Applications open the door. Relationships get you hired. ♻️ Someone in your network is stuck in the application abyss. Share this with them. 🔔 Follow Sarah Baker Andrus for more career strategies

Job Seekers, here's a systematic approach I followed to maximize my job search success! I had applied to a ton of jobs since last year to land one this year. I am not ashamed to say I have been rejected in many ones that I applied, but before getting dejected please ask for feedback to work on them. Sometimes you could just get rejected for any other reason than your skill set. Step 1: Identify Your Target Roles Start by defining your career goals. Understand the job market and pinpoint the roles you're interested in. Step 2: Craft Tailored Resumes & Cover Letters Customize your application materials for each position. Highlight your relevant skills and experiences. Step 3: Set Up an Application Schedule Plan a weekly application goal to stay consistent. Apply to multiple jobs to increase your chances. Step 4: Maintain an Application Tracker Create an Excel sheet to keep tabs on your job applications. Include details like company, position, date applied, and the status of each application. Step 5: Request Feedback Don't be afraid to ask for feedback if you're not selected. It's a valuable opportunity to improve. Send a polite email or message thanking them for their time and expressing your interest in their company. Step 6: Continuous Improvement Review your application tracker regularly. Identify patterns or areas for improvement in your application materials. Use feedback to refine your approach. Remember, the job search can be a marathon, not a sprint. Stay persistent, stay organized, and keep learning from your experiences. #jobsearch #careeradvice #networking #professional #tips Have any additional tips to share or success stories using this method? If I were jobless or laid off in 2024, this is the exact 6-step strategy I’d use to find a job fast. Feel free to use it for yourself, it’s practical and proven. Step 1: Search smart - Go to LinkedIn and type: “[Your job title] AND hiring” in the search bar. - Filter the results by posts from the last 24 hours. - Prioritize roles and companies that align with your skills. Step 2: Build your list - Make a list of hiring managers and recruiters from the posts you find. - Use tools like Hunter or Skrapp to find their work emails if they aren’t listed. - Keep a spreadsheet to track companies, contacts, and outreach. Step 3: Send connection requests - Craft a personalized note when sending connection requests on LinkedIn. Example: *Hi [Name], I came across your job posting for [Role] and it aligns perfectly with my experience. I’d love to connect to explore this opportunity.* - Keep it polite, brief, and professional. Step 4: Directly message them - Once connected, send a well-crafted DM or email. Highlight: - Who you are: A brief introduction. - Why you’re reaching out: Reference the job posting. - What you bring: A key accomplishment or skill that aligns with their needs. Example: *Hi [Name], I noticed your post about the [Role] opening at [Company]. My experience in [Skill] and [Result] makes me a great fit for this position. Could we schedule a quick call to discuss further?* Step 5: Follow up - If you don’t hear back within a week, follow up politely. Example: *Hi [Name], I wanted to follow up on my earlier message regarding the [Role]. I’m genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to [Company]. Please let me know if we could connect.* - Consistency without spamming shows initiative. Step 6: Expand your reach - Apply through job boards and company career pages simultaneously. - Use tools like AngelList or Wellfound for startup opportunities. - Network aggressively, ask for referrals from your connections. You have to walk the mile others won’t to reap the rewards others can’t. With this strategy, you’re not just applying for jobs, you’re creating opportunities for yourself. P.S. Follow me if you are an Indian job seeker in the U.S. I talk about resumes, job search, and interview prep.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 Applying to dozens of jobs and hearing nothing back? You’re not alone. The old "𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘆" method doesn’t work anymore. Here’s what does: ✅ 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 – Instead of applying to 50 jobs with the same resume, focus on 5-10 roles that truly align with your skills and tailor your application for each. ✅ 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗔𝗧𝗦-𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 – 75% of resumes never get seen by a human. Use clear formatting, include keywords from the job description, and avoid excessive graphics. ✅ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 – Find someone at the company (hiring manager, recruiter, or employee) and connect 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 submitting your resume. Referrals significantly increase your chances of landing an interview. ✅ 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 – Many recruiters will check your profile before calling you. Make sure your headline, about section, and experience showcase your value. ✅ 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗨𝗽 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 – After applying, don’t just wait. Send a brief, professional follow-up message to the recruiter or hiring manager to express your interest. 𝑨𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒋𝒐𝒃𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒚, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒎𝒆. The biggest mistake job seekers make? Applying to 100s of jobs. Here’s the problem with that: - No referrals to boost your chances - Generic CVs that don’t stand out - No meaningful relationships built - Rushed prep for phone screenings - No time for deep company research - Poorly tracked applications - Barely any final stage interviews LinkedIn "Easy Apply" rarely works. Stop wasting your time. Do These 6 Steps Instead: 1️⃣ Target 15 Companies Across 3 Industries ↳ 5 companies in each industry to create your target list 2️⃣ Research The Company ↳ Identify values, products & key people 4️⃣ Identify Roles That Match Your Skills ↳ Have clear job titles to apply for 3️⃣ Connect With Employees on LinkedIn ↳ Find hiring managers & industry professionals ↳ Send personalised connection requests & emails 5️⃣ Track Your Applications ↳ Use a simple excel tracker to stay organised 6️⃣ Create A Tailored, Results-Based CV ↳ Adopt the employers language from the job description ↳ Show clear examples of success Employers notice when candidates don’t put effort in. To stand out, you have to be resourceful, targeted & creative. My clients have used these strategies to land top jobs at Google, Amazon, BT, TikTok, Vodafone, EY & more. It may take you longer for each application. But it works. It's worth the extra effort. Quality beats quantity. Do you agree? Comment below ⬇ Repost ♻️ to help job seekers in your network. One thing that many people need to think about when on the hunt is having a real "Job Search Routine" because we all know it's a full-time job. In this video, I explain why it's so important to break up your job hunt into daily, weekly, and monthly goals, and to set realistic targets for yourself. This actually takes time, just like anything, but here is a small breakdown example : 👉🏻 Step 1: Start with a Plan (Weekly Overview) > Apply for 5 jobs. > Reach out to five contacts (good ex-colleagues, friends, or people you know). > Create an #Opentowork post (a good one with context) 🧠 Neurodivergent Folk: Break it down into what is manageable for you. 👉🏻 Step 2: Daily Breakdown > Morning: Check job listings, and save roles that may be of interest to you. > Afternoon: Send personalised connection requests, engage with your network, and submit applications. > Evening: Update your progress in a sheet or app with details like the role applied for, submission date, and follow-up deadlines. 🧠 Neurodivergent Folk: If this feels like a lot of energy, just jot down "wins" and tasks left unfinished in a simple note. 👉🏻 Step 3: Review What's Worked If you’ve made progress or had interviews, refine what worked and apply the learnings to your next week. I totally get that this can feel very overwhelming for many people, but once you get into a good routine with it, you’ll thank me.
