CEO | SPOTIO - We're Transforming Field Sales to Achieve More | 10+ Years in Field Sales

Field sales reps lose 5+ hours a week to CRM data entry. That's a full selling day gone every week. No wonder over 60% of reps miss quota. We just launched DASH to fix it. Most AI sales tools were built for inside sales. Reps sitting at desks with stable internet, dual monitors, and time to type. That's not how field sales works. Field reps sell on doorsteps, in parking lots between appointments, and from the driver's seat. They have  seconds to log a call before the next stop. They can't pull up dashboards while standing in front of a customer. They need tools that work the way they actually work. That's why we built DASH - an AI sales assistant fully integrated into SPOTIO. Not a plugin or separate app. Built directly into the platform your reps already use every day. Here's some examples of what DASH does throughout SPOTIO: Snap a business card, create the record. Reps take a photo of a business card. DASH builds the contact record - name, number, address - without typing a character. Voice-first workflows between stops. Reps talk to DASH to hear account summaries and draft visit notes by voice. Quick confirmations with a tap when it's safe. Less time on the phone, more focus on the next opportunity. 10-second visit prep. Tap DASH for a plain-language summary of any account. Last visit, contact history, deal status. No digging through CRM tabs. Draft follow-ups instantly. DASH writes personalized emails and texts using account data and visit history. Reps review, tweak if needed, and send. Answers on demand, 24/7. Upload your pricing sheets, specs, and sales docs. DASH searches them instantly so reps get accurate answers without calling the office. Multi-step workflows in one request. Create a lead, schedule a follow-up, and draft an email in one confirmed conversation. Three screens and six clicks become one action. Because DASH is built directly into SPOTIO, it works everywhere. Your reps aren't switching between tools. They're using one platform that just got significantly faster and easier. Every DASH action shows a confirmation preview. Nothing writes to SPOTIO until the rep approves. AI speed without losing control. We’re giving field sales teams back the time they're losing to admin work so they can spend it selling. Our State of Field Sales Report found that 71% of reps spend 5 or more hours a week on manual CRM entry. Some spend 10+ hours. That's time that should be spent selling. DASH is how we close that gap. It's AI built for the physical reality of being in the field - fast, mobile, fully integrated, and designed around the fact that field reps don't work from desks. Many thanks to our Product and Engineering teams for making this dream come a reality!

Whenever I speak with Sales Leaders and Founders, one topic that often emerges is the evolution of sales channels in the post-COVID era—especially in the US enterprise market. The pandemic brought massive shifts, forcing most businesses to lean heavily on digital and remote selling. While this created efficient and scalable sales models, the value of face-to-face interactions in complex enterprise sales has never been entirely replaceable. As we settle into the post-COVID world, Direct Field Sales has made a strong comeback. In fact, recent studies indicate that: 67% of enterprise decision-makers prefer in-person meetings for strategic deals over purely digital engagement. Companies investing in field sales teams report a 25-30% higher close rate compared to those relying solely on inside or digital sales teams. 78% of US enterprise deals worth $500k+ involve field sales interactions at critical deal stages. Why is Direct Field Sales regaining prominence? 1️⃣ Building Trust: Enterprise-level decisions often involve multi-million-dollar commitments. Nothing beats a handshake to solidify trust. 2️⃣ Complex Deal Cycles: High-value deals require navigating multiple stakeholders. A field presence helps align internal buy-ins. 3️⃣ Standing Out: In a crowded, remote-first sales world, being present in person makes a lasting impression. However, the game has evolved. Today, a successful Direct Field Sales strategy is hybrid by design. Reps rely on digital tools for discovery and initial engagement, while reserving in-person meetings for critical stages. 💡 My Take: The future is about blending the efficiency of digital channels with the power of personal presence. The businesses that strike the right balance will dominate the enterprise market. What are your thoughts? Is your organization seeing a similar shift back to field sales? Would love to hear how you're shaping your sales strategies post-COVID! #SalesLeadership #EnterpriseSales #DirectFieldSales #PostCovidTrends

Equipping CEOs Who Want More Consistent Sales Performance Without Forcing Technically Strong Teams Into Generic Sales Scripts Through BELIEF Selling™ | Author of The Sales Reset

Why is no one talking about the real issue in field sales? Most sales reps are executing but zero ownership. And it’s costing companies millions in lost opportunities. I worked with a VP of Sales in the industrial sector who had strong boots on the ground. But here’s what we uncovered: His field reps were running routes, checking boxes, and reporting back… But they weren’t thinking like owners of their territory. No pipeline strategy. No prospecting game plan. No real understanding of their numbers beyond what was handed to them. So, we built something different: A Territory CEO Framework. Reps began each quarter with a territory business plan. They segmented their accounts by potential, not just geography. They started tracking leading indicators, not just lagging results. Weekly 1:1s shifted from check-ins to strategic reviews. What happened next? → One rep identified a stalled account worth $500K and flipped it. → Another reduced their travel by 30%, and doubled their face-to-face selling time. → Team-wide forecast accuracy went from 62% to 89%. The magic wasn’t in more effort. It was in more autonomy and ownership. Because when your field reps start thinking like Territory CEOs, they stop waiting for direction, and start driving outcomes.

Your Route-to-Market Strategy Is Costing You 15% in Lost Sales. Here's the uncomfortable truth: Most sales organizations optimize for activity, not outcomes. More visits ≠ More sales. 💡 Better placement + Better timing + Better engagement = Sales that stick. Traditional route-to-market focuses on: ✗ Number of store visits per week ✗ Manual SKU rotation schedules ✗ One-size-fits-all promotional calendars But real competitive advantage lives in: ✓ Precision targeting (the RIGHT stores at the RIGHT time) ✓ Dynamic shelf allocation based on real-time demand ✓ Data-driven promotional calendars that match local buyer behavior ✓ Sales execution against what customers actually want We moved from "visiting 50 stores weekly" to "optimizing 15 stores where we get 70% of sales velocity." Implementation: 🎯 Territory mapping algorithm (analyzed historical performance data) 🎯 Real-time shelf positioning recommendations 🎯 Local promotional calendars matched to purchase patterns 🎯 Sales team dashboard showing ROI per store visit The results 💼 Route efficiency improved 28% (same number of visits, 28% higher ROI) 🏆 In-store execution quality improved from 71% → 94% 📍 Foot traffic to conversion improved 19% 💡 Sales team adoption of recommendations reached 91% (because data was actionable) 🎯 Territory productivity increased 31% in 6 months Why this matters more than you think ? The sales teams that win aren't the ones with more people. They're the ones with smarter people making faster, data-driven decisions. Giving your field team real-time, actionable intelligence about WHERE to focus and WHAT to prioritize transforms your entire go-to-market motion. Here's my question for you: What percentage of your field sales team's time is spent on high-ROI activities vs. activities of habit? I'd love to hear what's working in your organization—and what's becoming your biggest bottleneck. #RouteToMarket #SalesExecution #FMCGMarketing #ShopperMarketing #SalesEnablement #FieldSales #DataDriven #CommercialStrategy #RetailStrategy #SalesOptimization #DigitalTransformation #FMCG #SalesLeadership #OperationalExcellence

After years of restructuring and leaner commercial teams, many agri-input companies are facing a capacity problem in sales. Fewer people are expected to support more farmers, cover larger territories and maintain meaningful engagement throughout the season. Meanwhile, when a farmer discovers a problem in the field, the need for support is immediate. The farmer takes a photo and sends it through a familiar channel. An AI Agri-Input Sales Representative analyzes the image, identifies the likely problem, asks for any missing context and recommends the appropriate agronomic and product solution. When the farmer needs further support, the AI qualifies the opportunity and hands it over to the right regional representative with the context already captured. This creates a different operating model: Diagnose the problem. Recommend the solution. Create the sales-ready follow-up. The objective is not to replace agronomists or sales representatives. It is to expand their capacity. AI can provide 24/7 farmer engagement, consistent agronomy advisory and structured lead qualification. Human experts remain responsible for validation, complex decisions, commercial conversations and trusted relationships. The strongest agri-input companies will not choose between human expertise and AI. They will build commercial organizations in which both work together, allowing their teams to serve more farmers, respond faster and focus human capacity where it creates the greatest value. That is more than a chatbot. It is an AI workforce for agri-input sales - powered by AGRIVI. #agriculture #operations #economics #AI #agritech

A typical Mid-Market seller might manage 50 different opportunities at any given time. An SMB seller might have to manage 70. For each account, she has to track 9+ different notifications, news alerts, enablement tips, and insights for every account they manage. (Here’s the full list) 1. Unique point of view on the market Teach the prospect something differentiated and new. Commercial teaching à la Challenger. Some kind of market driven insights. 2. Competitor insights Know the features, know the positioning, know how we’re different. 3. Relevant case studies How does our solution apply to this person, this industry, this very specific use case which is subtly different from all the others. 4. Updated account plans Who’s above the power line, who has a preference for solution, who doesn’t like us but doesn’t matter. The orientation and next steps for every relevant person across 20+ relationships per account. 5. MEDDPICC documentation Down the extensive checklist and cross-referenced against our champion plus all the other stakeholders. See above. 6. Funding updates Did they just raise? Divest? Get acquired? Better show up with in-depth knowledge about all of that. 7. Job change alerts Open headcount. Shifts in new positions. Reallocated headcount budget. 8. Content engagement tracking They read the white paper (or didn’t). They subscribed or unsubscribed from our newsletter. Just how interested are they? 9. Field marketing data They just attended one of our prospect dinners in Austin. But was it the right person? How did it go? Check in with the event manager to make sure we made a good impression. Manage and track all of that information. Manually. Consistently. All updated. All correct. In time for accurate forecasting and commit meetings. It’s a lot. I’ve been building and managing revenue organizations for 20 years. It’s always been hard and its only getting harder. SOLUTION We’re moving from a world of “work harder” to a world of “work smarter” Companies and sales leaders are now leveraging AI in production where it can make a difference. Updates the data. Fills in the empty fields. Coaches and levels up. Nudges and reminds when appropriate.  AI that actually does the work.  That's why ZoomInfo just launched ZoomInfo Copilot Workspace. It gives sellers: - Complete buyer context - Automated research - One workspace where execution happens Not another dashboard or pane of glass. An actual execution layer that does the work. Great teams bridge the execution gap. The execution gap that separates winning teams from losing teams lies in simplifying the job of the seller so they can spend more time doing what we want them to do: talking to prospects and closing deals. That’s where we need them.

Decision Making in Field Sales (FMCG) Effective field sales decision making in FMCG is about making fast, informed & consistent choices that improve availability, visibility & revenue growth at the outlet level. Here is the key areas where field sales teams must make smart & timely decisions to deliver strong market performance. 1️⃣ Data Driven Decisions at Outlet Level: Field reps must use real time facts not assumptions to make decisions. Key inputs: - Sales history & SKU performance - Stock levels & replenishment needs - Competitor price, visibility & promotion - Outlet classification & potential - Daily route plan vs actual Example decision: Increase facings of a fast moving SKU in a high potential outlet. 2️⃣ Prioritization During Market Visits: Reps cannot do everything in each visit, so prioritize what drives the highest impact. Priority areas: - Availability → Zero stockouts - Visibility → Eye level, clean, consistent - Price & promo compliance - Orders → Right quantity, right mix - Merchandising → Fixing top 3 issues per visit Example decision: Focus on top 20% SKUs that deliver 80% volume. 3️⃣ Route Optimization & Time Allocation: Decisions which outlets to visit first & how long to spend in each outlet to determine productivity. Principles: - High volume outlets get more time - New or underperforming outlets need corrective actions Example decision: Spend 5 minutes on low potential outlets, 15–20 minutes on priority stores. 4️⃣ Relationship Building: Success depends on strong retailer relationships. Decisions include: - When to negotiate - How to handle objections - When to offer deals or suggest additional SKUs - When to escalate distributor support issues Example decision: Offer a fast selling promo SKU to a retailer who is hesitant to try a new line. 5️⃣ Managing Trade Spend & Promotions: Reps must decide when & where to activate promotions for maximum ROI. Key questions: - Does this outlet deserve promo investment? - Will it increase sell out or just add free stock? - Is the retailer following promo guidelines? Example decision: Activate a weekend discount in outlets with high footfall. 6️⃣ Smart Competitive Response: Field reps must react instantly to competitor activities. Possible decisions: - Adjust facings - Recommend price correction - Activate POS materials - Push bundle offers - Escalate severe issues Example decision: Increase visibility of core SKUs when competitor has aggressive promo. 7️⃣ Daily Learning & Continuous Improvement: Great field reps make better decisions over time. Daily reflections: - What worked today? - Which outlets need follow up? - What gaps did I see in distribution or POS? - How to improve order quality next visit? Example decision: Add a poorly performing outlet to tomorrow’s priority list. In summary effective field sales decision making blends data, sound judgment, strong relationships & disciplined execution. Success comes from making right choices quickly & consistently.

Field Execution - a usual problem and proposed solution Today's post is quite interesting. Team Boiling Point 212 has recently completed a live project for one of the largest multi-category #FMCG companies of India. 🅰️ The problem (Chart 1): The company competes in twelve categories with 170 #SKUs with two categories as market leaders. The #assortment has a balanced mix of standard, promotional and seasonal SKUs. The #brands are quite popular and few products have a good pull from #shoppers and #consumers, but average #SKU per outlet is only 4.3 and the major #sales value (around 80%) comes from only 17% SKUs. Obviously the management was concerned about the thin range spread and high dependence on a handful SKUs. Team #boilingpoint212 did a comprehensive field research, worked with various sales positions across seven distributors of north India for two months and proposed implementable solutions. 🅱️ The field research findings (Chart 2 to 4): 1️⃣ The in-store time of #distributor sales representative was a concern. He spent only 8 minutes on an average per #outlet and out of that only 26% time was dedicated for actual sales talks. It was just 2 minutes!!! 2️⃣ The Field Sales Executive, who was supposed to interact most with the consumers and shoppers, did the least, just 8% of opportunities!!! However his boss, the Field Sales Manager, used the maximum around 23% and the super boss, the Zonal Sales Manager, around 12% of interaction opportunities. 3️⃣ The Field Sales Executive worked for 9 hours a day, but the effective in-store time was just over 2 hours, and more alarmingly was the actual sales talk, just 48 minutes per day!!! 🆎 The proposed action steps 1️⃣ Restructured the market coverage of #distributor sales representatives. Number of outlets per route was reviewed and corrected. Proposed the way to use the 'waiting' time (42%) on stock check and build that observation to actual 'sales talk' for better orders. 2️⃣ Developed a on-the-job coaching tool for Field Sales Managers to equip the Field Sales Executives to effectively interact with more and more shoppers and consumers and subsequently generate the business insights out of these interactions. 3️⃣ Reworked on Field Sales Executive's daily working time. The time slots are re-allocated with higher priorities on 'coaching' and 'sales talk'. Introduced a score-card based on-the-job coaching tool for Sales Executives which can be tracked by the Sales Manager. 4️⃣ Developed a Field Execution Performance Dashboard with 5 business KPIs, e.g. productivity% per route, SKU per outlet, contribution of top 17% SKUs, brand-channel distribution and target vs. achievement status. 🅾️ The results: Post project two months had been quite satisfying. SKU/outlet increased to 5.2, the contribution of top 17% SKUs came down to 71% while avearge monthly sales grew by 8% Leave your comments, call us at hello@boilingpoint212.com for #fieldoperations best practices. Stay tuned👍

*Field Sales is an eye-opener* This statement feels stronger as I navigate the retail markets in general trade every single day. Understanding the reality at the ground level becomes extremely crucial as it helps me devise further strategies to improve sales, understand the functionalities and developments of markets, and most importantly expect the unexpected. Here are a few checklists I ensure to follow on a daily/weekly basis to help combat field sales and add more value to the system✅: 1️⃣A complete understanding of what I’m selling: Every week I spend at least 20-30 minutes with a product docket and challenge myself to be fully aware of all the product portfolios I plan to target. Not only does this help me to stay on top of things, but it also helps me find new opportunities while working in the market. 2️⃣Thorough market research: One of the key goals of working in the field is to understand how your competitor is performing. Every week I dedicate a good chunk of my time to reviewing key competitor activities in terms of how they use paid counters, visibility, etc., and try to find opportunities to place products better at a particular shop. 3️⃣Benchmarking performance: Creating a habit of becoming a better version of myself every day is something I’m trying to inculcate as a part of my personal review. At the end of a day or week, it becomes incredibly crucial to sit and review your own work to understand where can one do better. Every day on the field is different, and reviewing your own work can help you expand your horizons as well as think out of the box. 4️⃣Relationship building: A huge part of field sales involves building relationships with multiple parties like retailers, distributors, and so forth. A good relationship can go a long way in making one's work easier in terms of product placement and push selling strategy. 5️⃣Data Analytics: Data is no joke, especially in sales. Reviewing data not only for the current day, but against, month, quarter and year can help one identify gaps and find pockets of improvement. Data analytics could also review forming strategies based on inventory, conducting short surveys amongst customers, checking whether upselling or cross-selling is going to work in a market, and so on. As someone who has spent 3 months in the FMCG sector, I have come to understand being dynamic and on your feet at all times is crucial to how well you can perform. The above tips have helped me face the challenges of field sales head-on, I hope it helps you with the same as well! #fmcg #sales #marketing #salesandmarketing #fieldsales #strategy #analytics #tips #benchmarking
