This model shows how a modern e-commerce platform is designed under the hood: from search and pricing to inventory checks, order processing, logistics, notifications, and recommendations - all stitched together through event-driven systems like Kafka. Here’s a quick breakdown: 1. User Search Flow When someone searches for a product, requests are routed through the CDN to deliver fast responses. The search service interacts with Elasticsearch to fetch relevant items, while consumers process the signals for ranking and personalization. 2. Product Browsing & Wishlist Wishlist and cart services store user preferences and state. These read/write requests hit different DB clusters to keep latency low and availability high. 3. Logistics & Notifications Once the order is confirmed, logistics services handle shipping tasks while notification systems send updates across email, SMS, and app alerts. 8. Recommendations & Personalization Cassandra clusters power personalized recommendations. Models use user behavior, order history, and search patterns to generate relevant suggestions. 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞: 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 ➡️ 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: Customer, Payment Gateway ➡️ 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Customer has a registered account and a valid payment method saved. ➡️ 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Customer successfully completes the purchase and receives an order confirmation. ➡️ 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰: 1. Customer launches the mobile app. 2. Customer logs into their account. 3. Customer searches for a product. 4. Customer selects a product. 5. App displays the product details. 6. Customer adds the product to the cart. 7. Customer proceeds to checkout. 8. App presents the payment options. 9. Customer selects the preferred payment method. 10. At step 5, if the selected product is out of stock, the app notifies the customer about the unavailability. 2. The customer is prompted to either select another product or sign up for a restock notification. 3. If the customer chooses to wait for a restock, they can register their interest, and the flow ends. If the customer selects another product, the flow returns to step 5 with the new selection. Change Payment Method 4. At step 9, if the customer decides to use a different payment method not yet saved in their profile, they can add a new payment method. 5. The app allows the customer to enter new payment details and saves the new method. 6. The flow then proceeds to step 10 as usual. ➡️ 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰: Payment Declined: 1. If at any step a technical error occurs (e.g., server downtime, database error), the app displays an error message to the customer explaining the problem. 6. The customer can try the action again, or if the error persists, contact customer support. 7. The app's servers are hit with a tsunami of requests—orders, payments, inventory checks, and shipping updates—happening all at once. 👉 How does the app ensure every order is processed seamlessly while managing this overwhelming traffic? ❌ Without an efficient system in place, users could face: 🚨 Order processing delays. ⚡ Missed deals due to server overloads. ❌ Failed payments or stock issues leading to customer dissatisfaction. ✨ The Role of Message Queues & Dead Letter Queues (DLQ): Here’s how the system ensures smooth operations: 1️⃣ Message Queue Magic: Every order, like John’s, is sent to a Message Queue.     ✨How I helped my client land a 💲30,000,000 contract  The client approached me with automation requirements to streamline order processing. We started the engagement with simple solutions using API integrations. However, while working on integration, I noticed that their existing processes had inefficiencies that were slowing down operations and limiting growth. Instead of just automating their current workflow, I designed a comprehensive process automation plan and presented it. Rejecting it first, sighting possible interruptions, the client embraced it completely when we 1st built a single solution for marketing integration & automation, proving to elevate efficiency, scalability, and precision. Here’s how I helped them build a robust system that worked for them and is worth flaunting in the beauty industry: 💡Analysis The client’s order processing and supply chain were suffering from outdated processes and lengthy execution systems. It involved creating XL files, selecting certain headers, filling them, sending the file to another team member, to be converted into various CSV according to each beauty brand’s ERP system, like Shopify or even NetSuite, and then to be imported brand’s system. Running a busy sales service company in the beauty industry, they needed a smooth system that would work every day without slowing down their business. 🧮 The Process I carefully reviewed their processes and pinpointed steps that could be optimized and automated. Working closely with a brilliant team of analysts and developers at DesignersX, we held brainstorming sessions to clearly map out the changes needed. We built a custom web and mobile application suite that worked perfectly with Salesforce, the backbone that managed all their data, all while keeping their daily operations running normally. 🖥️ The Result We built a custom web and mobile application suite designed to work in perfect harmony with Salesforce, the backbone that managed all the company’s data. This new suite did more than just automate tasks: - It ensured real-time updates so everyone stayed in the loop. - It streamlined communication between departments. - It ran seamlessly in the background, so the client never had to pause their busy day-to-day operations. ✌ The Triumph I consider it a victory when my clients proudly showcase their prowess in the industry.     𝐈 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐀 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬. I was ordering food the other day, just like I do all the time. Same app. Same process. But this time, instead of mindlessly tapping through, I decided to treat it like a BA project. I put on my analyst hat and started breaking it down. Step 1: What’s the problem? The app works. People use it. But there’s this one moment where the checkout feels off. You pick your food, add it to the cart, and then suddenly you’re facing a wall of decisions: delivery time, payment method, add-ons, discounts, loyalty points, tips, all at once. It’s not broken. It’s just… overwhelming. Step 2: Who’s affected? - Hungry customers like me who just want food fast and don’t want to make 7 decisions in 30 seconds - New users who abandon because too many choices - Restaurant partners who lose orders when customers bail - Delivery drivers who get fewer runs from incomplete orders Step 3: The current process (as‑is) I sketched it out in my notes: 1. Select restaurant 2. Browse menu 3. Add items to cart 4. Checkout overload: - Delivery time (5 options) - Payment (4 options) - Add‑ons (10+ upsells) - Discounts (if any) - Loyalty points (optional) - Tip (slider) - Confirm everything 5. Place order Time: 3–5 minutes for something that should take 1 minute. Friction points: Step 4 is where most people pause, scroll, or exit. Step 4: What’s the real need? If I strip away the app solution and just look at the problem: As a hungry customer, I want to order food quickly and smart so I can get back to my day. The app is trying to maximize revenue (upsells, tips, loyalty) at the expense of speed and simplicity. Step 5: Stakeholders and their needs - Customers: Fast, simple checkout - Restaurants: Complete orders, happy customers - Delivery drivers: More runs, clear instructions - App company: Revenue from commissions, ads, upsells - Payment partners: Completed transactions Everyone wins if checkout converts better. Step 6: Quick to‑be idea What if checkout became a 2‑step process? Step 1: Address + payment (pre‑saved defaults) → Confirm Order? Step 2: Post‑confirmation upsells (“Add drink for €15?”, “Tip your driver?”) Same revenue opportunities, but friction is front‑loaded to the end where people feel good about their order. I didn’t redesign the whole app. I just picked one process and asked: 🔸What’s working? 🔸What’s not? 🔸What would make it better? 🔸Who benefits? It took a couple minutes. But it made me see the app differently; not as a finished product, but as a collection of processes that could always be improved. I will do this with everything: ride‑hailing apps, banking apps, even government service websites. It’s free practice, and it trains my brain to spot the right problems to solve.
