After ten years of remote working, this is the biggest mistake I made... Thinking remote working = home working. I fell into the trap for years of sitting at the same desk in the same house. Everything felt samey, including my thinking, and it impacted my work. The reality is, if you want to change your perspective, change your environment! Personally speaking I'm at my most creative, productive and happiest when out in nature, not cooped up at home. Turns out that's supported by the research too: - Sitting indoors staring at a screen, uses Directed Attention, which is finite and tiring. Nature triggers Soft Fascination, allowing your brain to shift into making new connections. - Studies from the University of Michigan show that simply looking at a picture of nature for 40 seconds can improve performance on detail-oriented tasks. - Spending just 20 to 30 minutes sitting in a place that makes you feel connected to nature significantly drops cortisol levels, the body's primary stress hormone. Remote working as a terminology denotes a sense of working in remote locations. Our world is blessed with beauty all around, so use the balmy Springtime weather to get out the house and find your own remote working spot. ☀️ ☺️

They said I was doing it wrong. 2020: Those same people panic-buying ring lights and asking me how Zoom works. By 2025, I've built and scaled operations across San Francisco, London and Hong Kong too. Ten years of remote chaos and wi-fi taught me what actually matters. Spoiler: It's not your tech stack. 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 → 𝗙𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Those company online gym classes I led during COVID? (Yes, really.) Fun for a month. Offsites build actual culture. 𝗠𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀: 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗮𝘂𝗹𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗰. 𝗔𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀. London doesn't wait for Hong Kong to wake up. Document decisions in Notion. Loom for context. Meetings only when something's on fire. 𝗢𝗞𝗥𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵. Track outcomes, not hours. Your London developer's 3-hour deep work beats your Milan manager's 12-hour Slack presence. 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀. Fly everyone to Barcelona twice a year. It costs less than the productivity you lose from another "quick sync." 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀. If it matters, write it. If it doesn't, why are you meeting? 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀. Hong Kong responds in 2 hours. Milan in 2 days. San Francisco immediately but changes their mind twice. Plan accordingly. During COVID, everyone discovered remote work. I discovered everyone was doing it wrong. They replicated office culture online. Nine hours of Zoom. Surveillance software. Virtual wine tastings. Meanwhile, I'm teaching my team hiit classes over video (true story) because at least movement keeps people sane when everything else is chaos. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵: Companies that win remotely don't manage distributed teams. They build async-first operations that treat timezones as a feature, not a bug. Your Series A is probably still forcing Milan to work San Francisco hours. 𝐈𝐬 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤? Yesterday, the Reality Labs teams at Meta were invited to do a "𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘝𝘙 𝘥𝘢𝘺" and, as a true proud Geek, of course I joined in! 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐈 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐕𝐑? Maybe😂 Here are my thoughts after this experience. 1️⃣ 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐕𝐑 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐳𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Take this from someone who works full remote and spends hours on zoom calls every day: 🔼 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘰 𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘦𝘺 for immersive experience, you can hear people from around the table It gives a sense of presence compared to zoom calls. If someone joins the call without a headset, you see the standard screen around the table so noone is excluded. 🔼 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬! When you're on zoom, nobody sees your hands, it's different here, your hand movement is tracked, it moves and it makes you more present and participative. 🔽 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘴. It's ok for gaming but for work meetings, let's say I can't wait for codec avatars (photorealistic avatars) to be implemented one day. If most people are going to do several days remote a week, this is definitely the next best thing for meetings. One thing I think would be amazing would be to do creative workshops in these, writing on walls, adding voice notes, generating content with AI etc. It would be 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 than in person. 2️⃣ 𝐄𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐤𝐞𝐲. I tried with the standard strap and then with advanced strap (boboVR M3 pro) with extra battery at the back, rebalancing weight etc. Game Changer. I also took off the side eye guards, I found it much more comfortable to have open sides for work. 3️⃣ 𝐈'𝐦 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞. At home I have 3 massive screens in front of me and reproducing this in VR/MR was great. 🔼 Wireless laptop connection was perfect, zero latency, I used my external keyboard and mouse, no difference, never used the controllers. Yes I sourced on Linkedin, opened far too many tabs, had my chats on one side, some candidates were outreached from VR and it makes me giggle 🤭 🔽 For now, I guess because of latency, it was still more tiring for my eyes than my standard set up and I could feel the weight of the device after 2h+. This is already MUCH better than working from a laptop with a trackpad 𝐓𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐦 𝐮𝐩, I think I just experienced something that might be coming standard in the near future for work. If you asked me to join an open space without external monitors (or just 1 small) and this... I take this no doubt. Next time I take the train for hours and need to work, this is coming with me 100%. And most prob I'll work from the garden in spring, I'm officially not bound to my geek office anymore.

VR + IoT teaches reality — without the risks, costs, or downtime of on-site practice. The future of industrial training isn't just virtual. It's virtually connected to the real world, creating workforces that are prepared for anything because they've already experienced everything.

This is what happens when VR stops being a simulation and starts becoming part of the real environment. With spatial pass through, the walls disappear but the workflow stays real. You see the room you are standing in. You reach for actual equipment. You turn real knobs. And on the bed, a digital patient responds physiologically to every decision you make. That changes everything. In one session, learners can move through multiple high fidelity scenarios. They practice judgment, physical skills, and prioritization in the same space they already work in. Not switching contexts. Not pretending. Practicing with intention. This is not about novelty. It is about compressing experience. Running more meaningful reps in less time, while staying grounded in real clinical environments. That is how clinical thinking sharpens. Forget the headset roadmaps for a minute. The most useful thing to happen in immersive this year is the plumbing. Four developments from the last few months that quietly change what we can actually build and ship: 1. Gaussian splats became a real file format. Khronos is folding them into glTF, the format the entire 3D web already runs on, with NVIDIA, Autodesk, Esri and Niantic behind it. Sounds dry. It means a photoreal captured scene stops being trapped in one bespoke viewer and becomes an asset you can move through a pipeline and open in a browser. That's the line between a clever demo and something you can put in front of a client. 2. 4Dviews now exports volumetric capture straight into Unity, as splats or mesh, holding onto the hair, fur and glass that used to defeat reconstruction. 3. WebGPU and foveated rendering have all but closed the gap between the browser and a native app. WebXR use is up 40% this year. No download, near-native quality. 4. Google's XR Blocks turns a plain-English prompt into a working, physics-aware WebXR scene in under a minute. Prototyping is now faster than the meeting to brief it. None of these made headlines. This project gave me the chance to collaborate with Jayse Hansen and Jeff Hansberger from #Øffgrid to design a VR simulation system that recreates real-world mission scenarios for soldiers. Our goal was simple: build a training experience that feels immersive, effective, and engaging — one that helps users learn faster while staying fully focused in the moment. We designed each interface to make critical information easy to understand at a glance, from risk zone alerts to interactive mission tracking. With real-time feedback, soldiers can quickly adjust tactics, respond under pressure, and make better decisions in the field. By combining the power of Apple Vision Pro with a human-centered design approach, we created a training environment that is both safe and highly realistic — helping strengthen performance, readiness, and confidence. This is the kind of work that shows how immersive technology can reshape military training, moving preparation toward smarter, safer, and more effective virtual experiences. Just finished a deep dive into how AR and XR are quietly transforming the modern workplace, and I’m convinced this shift is far more than a tech trend. We often hear about automation, AI, and data pipelines. But on the ground, it’s immersive tech that’s helping teams 𝗼𝗻𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿𝘀, and 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 without flying in experts. DHL uses smart glasses to guide warehouse pickers in real time. GE Aerospace trains technicians with AR overlays instead of thick manuals. Coca-Cola HBC connects frontline staff to remote support through wearable devices. The gains? Fewer mistakes, faster execution, more engaged teams. What stood out most: AR/XR isn’t replacing people; it’s making their jobs easier, safer, and smarter.
