Before you send your team to another stress management workshop, read this. Over the years of helping people improve & transform their wellness, I’ve worked with professionals across different industries, banking, tech, education, even healthcare. And here’s one pattern I keep seeing: The workshop is good. People feel inspired. They WANT to change. But 2–3 weeks later… They’re back to the same stress patterns aka old habits. Not because they don’t care. But because execution was never designed properly. And here’s the truth most people don’t say out loud: Losing momentum doesn’t just happen in stress management workshops. It happens in all workshops, trainings, and bootcamps. You name it. They inspire. They empower. They even give templates and tracking metrics. And yet… people still slip back into old habits. It’s understandable. Because their brains have been wired that way for years...sometimes even decades. From what I’ve observed, real change doesn’t happen in one session. It happens in 2 phases: Phase 1️⃣ : Kick-starting Action (from Inertia to Action) This is where most workshops stop, but it’s actually where things should begin. People don’t need more information. They need momentum. Some ways to activate this phase: • Short, structured challenges (e.g. 5–7 day reset routines) • Simple, repeatable tools they can apply immediately • Clear “what to do tomorrow” steps • Light accountability loops Because insight without action… fades fast. Phase 2️⃣ : Long-term Habit Formation This is the part most organisations overlook. Stress isn’t a one-time problem. It’s a pattern. And patterns need systems, not just motivation. Some ways to sustain this phase: • Ongoing community or peer support • Monthly reinforcement sessions or check-ins • Leadership alignment (culture matters more than content) • Environmental cues that support new behaviours Because behaviour change doesn’t stick in isolation. It sticks in environments that support it. If we really want our teams to perform at a high level without burning out, we need to move from one-off events → to behaviour design → to culture change. Not just “teach and inspire.” But activate and sustain. If you’re looking to design a stress management program that actually translates into daily behaviour, I’m happy to have a conversation. Let’s build something that lasts. Hi, I’m Shirlyn Lim, a Brain Coach & Mental Health Speaker. I share science-backed insights to help you stay calm under pressure, think clearly, and lead with confidence. Stress management isn’t something you master overnight. It’s something you practise over time. The mistake most people make is trying to push through stress without understanding what it’s doing to them. They ignore the warning signs. They're constantly under pressure. And convince themselves it’s normal. But chronic stress affects far more than your mood. It affects your sleep, recovery, focus, immune system, and long-term health. That’s why learning how to manage stress properly matters. I think about it through four simple steps: → Stop → Separate → Stabilise → Simplify Each one plays a different role in helping you handle pressure in a healthier way. 🛑 Stop ↳ Helps you pause before reacting emotionally → Take one slow breath before responding → Give yourself a moment before making decisions → Avoid reacting while overwhelmed or frustrated 🧩 Separate ↳ Helps you focus on the real issue → Ask yourself what the actual problem is → Focus on what you can control → Leave what can wait until later ⚖️ Stabilise ↳ Helps your body and mind recover from stress → Prioritise good sleep → Move your body regularly → Eat properly, even during busy periods → Talk to people you trust instead of carrying everything alone ✂️ Simplify ↳ Helps reduce unnecessary pressure → Focus on priorities instead of everything at once → Remove tasks that don’t truly matter → Take things one step at a time What most people get wrong is thinking stress management means becoming mentally tougher. But often, it starts with slowing down enough to notice what’s no longer working. Stress is such a toxic thing when it quietly becomes your normal. If stress is something you’ve been struggling with lately, I’ve just released a new podcast episode with Natalja Fischer where I go deeper into: → The difference between acute and chronic stress → What stress actually does to the body over time → How cortisol, HRV, and recovery affect long-term health → Simple ways to reduce stress without overcomplicating your life → And when it might be time to ask for professional help What’s one thing that helps you manage stress better? ➕ Follow Felix Bertram for more posts about living a longer, healthier life 🎧 Listen to the latest episode of Hacking Age here: https://lnkd.in/gnfxtdNA ♻️ Repost to help someone take stress more seriously before it affects their health

The best leaders don’t just manage stress. They master it. Because recharging isn’t a luxury - it’s a strategy. You can’t lead effectively if you’re running on fumes - yet, stress is a constant. The difference? High performers don’t let it control them. They take control first. Here’s how: 1️⃣ Remember to breathe. ↳ Stress hits. Your heart rate spikes. Your focus scatters. ↳ The fix? Deep breathing. ↳ Inhale for 5 seconds, exhale slowly. Repeat. ↳ This small habit shifts your nervous system from fight-or-flight to calm and in control. 2️⃣ Rewire your mind with gratitude. ↳ Stress narrows your vision. Gratitude expands it. ↳ Start every morning by writing down three things you’re grateful for. ↳ It sounds simple, but over time, it rewires your brain to focus on what’s working instead of what’s draining you. 3️⃣ Treat your body like your business depends on it—because it does. ↳ Move daily. Eat like you respect yourself. Sleep like it’s a priority, not an afterthought. ↳ Your mental clarity, decision-making, and resilience all start here. 4️⃣ Treat your time as your most valuable asset. ↳ Not everything deserves your attention. ↳ Not everyone gets instant access to your time. ↳ Set boundaries, say no, protect your focus. 5️⃣ Build a support system, not just a network. ↳ The people around you either energize you or drain you. ↳ Choose wisely. ↳ Ask for help when you need it. ↳ Delegate what you shouldn’t be doing. 6️⃣ Turn joyful moments into non-negotiable meetings. ↳ You’ll never “find” time for the things that bring you energy—you have to create it. ↳ Block time for the hobbies, moments, and people that recharge you. A burnt-out leader helps no one. You can’t pour from an empty cup. And high performers don’t wait until they’re depleted to refill it. How do you stay energized under pressure?

I've helped hundreds of professionals manage workplace stress. Here's what actually works for stress management: 1. Use the "what's the worst that could happen?" technique. 2. Keep a clean desk policy - less clutter, less stress. 3. Start your day with a 5-minute breathing session. 4. Schedule breaks, don't just take them randomly. 5. Practice saying "no" to non-essential requests. 6. Use the "brain dump" technique before bed. 7. Take your lunch break away from your desk. 8. Schedule "worry time" - 15 minutes daily. 9. Create a dedicated workspace at home. 10. Turn off notifications during focus blocks. 11. Implement the "one task at a time" rule. 12. Use the 5-5-5 method for instant calm. 13. Use the 2-minute rule for small tasks. 14. Document your wins, however small. 15. Keep a "worry log" to track patterns. 16. Create transition rituals between tasks. 17. Practice gratitude before starting work. 18. Maintain a consistent sleep schedule. 19. Use time-blocking for better focus. 20. Set firm boundaries for work hours. Bonus: There's no such thing as being "too organized". Feel free to share this with your team. But remember: These techniques only work if you actually implement them. Start with one, master it, then move to the next. P.S. Which technique (1-20) resonated with you most? Did I miss any that work for you? #stress #workplace

My client was on the brink of collapse, suffocating under the weight of a toxic work environment. Gaslighting and constant scrutiny had him questioning his every move, leaving him mentally paralyzed. But then, he found the courage to seek change. Through my coaching program, we unleashed the power of EFT and NLP to shatter the chains of negativity and rewire his mindset. Together, we: - Smashed through emotional barriers, releasing the burden of the past - Empowered his younger self with the tools to thrive - Unlocked the wisdom of his future self, illuminating the path forward We crafted a battle plan to conquer interviews with confidence, focusing on three key areas: ➜ Calm 1. Thymus Point Tapping: Gently tap your thymus gland, located just below your collarbone, to release emotional blockages and calm your nervous system. As you tap, repeat the phrase "I release all tension and stress" to quiet your mind. 2. Fast Finger Hold: Hold your fingers together, feeling the gentle pressure, and focus on your breath. This simple yet powerful technique helps calm your nervous system and center your thoughts. 3. Quick Coherence Technique: Close your eyes and visualize a bright, pulsing light at the center of your heart. As you inhale, imagine fresh energy entering your body; as you exhale, envision any stress or anxiety leaving your body. This technique harmonizes your heart and brain, promoting deep calm. ➜ Confidence: 1. Physical Relaxation: Release physical tension by rolling your shoulders, unclenching your fists, and relaxing your jaw. As you exhale, imagine any self-doubt or fear leaving your body. 2. Triad of Success Body and Breathing: Stand tall, feet shoulder-width apart, and breathe deeply into your belly. Feel the ground beneath you, supporting your weight, and imagine a bright light infusing your body with confidence and positivity. 3. Positive Focus: Gaze into a mirror and meet your own eyes. Repeat affirmations like "I trust myself" or "I am capable" to rewire your mind with confidence and self-assurance. ➜ Clarity: 1. Self-Talk: Notice your inner dialogue and gently redirect any negative self-talk. Replace critical thoughts with kind, encouraging affirmations like "I've got this" or "I'm strong and capable." 2. Anchoring Technique: Choose a personal anchor, like a favourite piece of jewellery or a meaningful object, to serve as a tangible reminder of your strength and resilience. With this structured plan, my client now wields the tools to stay calm, confident, and clear-headed in the face of adversity. He's breaking free from the toxic cycle and marching towards a brighter, more empowering career. Remember, you too can shatter the shackles of doubt and unleash your inner strength. You deserve to reign supreme in your career. Ready to transform your life? DM me "SHIFT" and discover the details of my Empowered Executive Program. It's time to rise!

Stress isn’t the enemy. Rather, the right amount of stress can sharpen focus, lift performance, and help us rise to challenges. I know I do some of my best work when things are busy and fast-paced. But there’s a tipping point. When stress becomes constant (acute or chronic) it stops serving us and starts costing us. Last night, I spoke with a group of lawyers about stress and burnout. The questions confirmed the following… We wait until we’re already in it before we ask for help. We ask: “How do I get out of this?” But what if we asked a better question: “How do I stop getting here in the first place?” Here are four practices I always come back to: 1. Build awareness of your early stress signals. Stress shows up in the body before the mind catches up. Learn your patterns. 2. Identify your triggers and conditions. When are you most vulnerable? What environments or demands push you closer to the edge? 3. Create a personal toolkit. This includes both preventative habits and in-the-moment strategies (boundaries, breathwork, recovery rituals). 4. Know your people. Support isn’t a last resort. It should be part of the system. Stress may be inevitable. Burnout doesn’t have to be. What would you add? #coaching #breathwork #storiesbyniti

HARSH LEADERSHIP TRUTH Managing your own stress is only half the battle when leading a team. The real challenge? How your stress impacts others. As a leader, your emotional state sets the tone for your entire team. If you're feeling stressed, guess what? That stress is contagious, and it spreads quickly. Here’s how to turn that around: ● Redirect stress into action. When you feel stress building, don’t let it paralyze you. Channel it into something productive. Knock out a quick task or help a colleague with theirs. Your team will pick up on your proactive energy and follow suit. ● Communicate clearly and confidently. Uncertainty breeds stress. You create a sense of stability and direction for your team by delivering clear, confident messages. It’s up to you to be the anchor in turbulent times. ● Mind your body language. Your team watches you closely. Relaxed, open gestures can signal support and reassurance, even when words aren’t enough. Your body language should be as positive as the energy you want to spread. ● Show gratitude regularly. Stress makes it easy to overlook the small wins, but those are what keep morale high. Celebrate them openly. Gratitude not only shifts your focus but also lifts the spirits of your team. ● Address overload proactively. Stress often comes from feeling overwhelmed. Don’t just set boundaries for yourself—watch for signs of burnout in your team. Offer solutions like reprioritizing tasks or delegating. Prevent stress from snowballing before it’s too late. STOP letting your stress dictate the mood of your team. START being the positive influence they need every single day. Remember, the energy you bring into your workplace is contagious. Make sure it’s worth catching. P.S. Have you ever found yourself absorbing someone else’s stress? How did you manage it?👇 #Leadership #TeamDynamics #StressManagement #EmotionalIntelligence #WorkplaceWellness #PositiveLeadership #GrowthMindset #EffectiveCommunication #LeadershipDevelopment #LinkedInTips #strategisthub

6 ways to handle stress like a leader, not a manager Managers avoid the pressure. Leaders help their team rise through it. Here’s how to lead when the tension is high: 1. Normalize It — Don’t Minimize It ↳ “You’ll be fine” shuts the door. ↳ “We’ve all been there” opens it. ✅ Create space to talk it out → “Let’s walk through it together.” → “What’s weighing on you right now?” Stress is like steam. If you don’t release it, it explodes. 2. Build Rituals Instead of Reacting ↳ Leaders don’t just cope — they prepare. ✅ Create pre-stress routines → Two deep breaths before a meeting → Ask for a quick win to ground the team Athletes do it. Leaders should too. 3. Make Pressure Part of the Conversation ↳ If stress is invisible, it festers. ↳ Shine a light on it. ✅ Ask: → “What’s draining you right now?” → “What would help lighten that load?” “You don’t drown by falling in water. You drown by staying in it.” — Edwin Louis Cole 4. Reconnect to What They Care About ↳ When people feel overwhelmed, ask about what matters. ↳ Their family. Their goals. Their passions. ✅ These questions pull them out of the weeds → “What’s something you’re looking forward to?” → “What would bring you a burst of energy this week?” 5. Model Calm Under Chaos ↳ People mirror your emotional energy. ✅ Slow your voice. Center your tone. → “Let’s take a breath before we dive in.” → “We’ve got this. Let’s break it down.” Leadership is presence — especially under pressure. 6. Redirect Energy Into Progress ↳ Stress without direction becomes burnout. ↳ Stress with purpose becomes momentum. ✅ Ask forward-focused questions → “What’s one small step you can take right now?” → “What’s one win we can aim for today?” Even small movement breaks the weight of stagnation. Because leadership isn’t about pretending pressure doesn’t exist. It’s about creating space, energy, and clarity through it. Lead. Inspire. Achieve. Ignite it. 💯🔥 ♻️ Repost to help other managers lead through stress 🔔 Follow Dwight Braswell, MBA for frameworks that support your team under pressure 👉 Get the Complete Leader Package or New Leader Bundle: 200+ questions, activities, and tools for 1:1s, stress management, and team culture https://lnkd.in/gmYczQHh
